How to Evolve Bisharp in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

Time to take the throne.

In case you don’t have a head for puns, the Pokemon Pawniard and Bisharp are spoofs on pawns and bishops, like on a chessboard. But have you ever thought it strange that a mere bishop is the height of that evolutionary line? Should it not be the king? Well, in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, it can be if you can prove yourself. Here’s how to evolve Bisharp in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.

As a reminder, if you have a Pawniard, you can evolve it into a Bisharp simply by leveling it up to level 52. A bit of a long stretch if you’re starting from one, but certainly not impossible. To get Bisharp up to the next step, though, it’s going to need to prove that it has the chops to be a leader. Ha, chops. Blades.

When you’re out and about in the wild, you may occasionally stumble upon a pack of Pawniards led by a lone Bisharp. If you’re lucky, this Bisharp may be carrying a special held item called the Leader’s Crest. You can obtain the Leader’s Crest by engaging the lead Bisharp and either catching it or having a Pokemon use Snatch.

Becoming Kingambit

Once you’ve secured a Leader’s Crest, you need to give it to your Bisharp to hold (or, if you just caught the Bisharp, just let it keep it). While your Bisharp is holding the Leader’s Crest, it needs to prove itself by defeating three other wild Bisharps in combat. It can’t just be any Bisharp, either; you specifically need to defeat three Bisharps that lead packs of Pawniards. Solo Bisharps don’t count.

Once your Bisharp successfully defeats the third leading Bisharp, it’ll consume the Leader’s Crest and evolve into Kingambit. Kingambit has the unique ability Supreme Overlord, giving it an Attack and Sp. Attack boost for every allied Pokemon who was defeated before it entered the fight.

Just look at that glorious bladed mustache and that built-in brooding chair. Truly, the face of an unmatched strategic intellect.
