It’s been said that squids are one of the most intelligent creatures in the ocean, able to solve all kinds of complex problems. I don’t know if their intellect is comparable to a human’s, and I hope it’s not. If squids are as smart as the one in Sports Story, then they’re probably jerks too. Here’s how to defeat the Giant Squid in Sports Story.
How to Defeat the Giant Squid in Sports Story
At the very end of the Briny Depths dungeon, as you seek out a way to rescue the captured Chase Codsworth, you finally come face to… eyeball with the dungeon’s true mastermind. The master to the annoying fish person that’s been harassing you and the culprit of the endless rain plaguing Pelican Waters is… a giant talking squid. Well, yeah, what else would it be?

The giant squid will drop you and itself into a lake of briny, dirty water and command you to kneel. If you attempt to approach it, it’ll just smack you away with its tentacles. Instead, you’ll need to complete a two-step process to weaken the squid and ultimately strip it of its power.
Attacking the Squid
If you look around the room, you’ll see four large drains stopped up with cork plugs. You’ve still got the fish man’s sticky hand equipped to your fishing rod, so you can probably see where this is going. Jump across the wooden beams to get close, then pull out your rod and take aim. Try to aim your cast so it lines up with the cork; your targeting reticle should turn red when the cork is in your path. Cast your line and yank it back to pull the cork out. Do this for all four drains, and the briny water will be cleaned up.
Now to attack the squid directly. If you look on the walkway on the left side of the room, you’ll see a discarded can of tuna. Walk up to the can and interact with it to tee up, then use your wedge to drive the can right into the squid’s big eyeball. The squid will shrink down to a smaller size and begin spinning around the arena. This is just a feint; jump across the beams and back to the arena, then walk right up to the squid. You’ll automatically grab him, swing him around, and lob him into the water. Without the brine to rejuvenate him, the squid will surrender, give you the key to free Chase in the next room, and agree to stop the rain.
