How to Defeat Kallamar in Cult of the Lamb

Under the Sea.

In Cult of the Lamb, there are four Bishops who stand in the way of The One Who Waits. Between Leshy, Heket, Kallamar, and Shamura, these false prophets will do everything they can to prevent your malicious benefactor from being freed. So, it’s up to you to systematically take them and their minions down.

In the aquatic ambiance of Anchordeep, where Kallamar awaits, you’ll face three mini-bosses before you encounter the Bishop. These mini-bosses are usually larger versions of mob enemies you face in the Lands of the Old Faith. But, they can also be converted to your cult upon their defeat, so they’re worth fighting. Here’s what you can expect from the battle against the third Bishop, Kallamar.

How to Beat Kallamar

I don’t want to mislead you — the only reason I beat Kallamar was thanks to a miracle. This Bishop uses a heavy-handed mix of minions and actual bullet hell strategies to knock you off your feet. Where you could go in blades-blazing like a tank and decimate Leshy and Heket, Kallamar’s fight isn’t so simple. That is, if you’re above exploiting a glitch that gives you the max number of hearts possible.

“Infinite” Hearts Glitch

I am unclear on how to exploit this glitch — if it even is a glitch at all — but here’s the rundown. In the final room before you fight Kallamar, sometimes there will be a complimentary blue heart. If you go back to the previous combat room and then return to the final room, there will be another complimentary blue heart. Rinse and repeat ad nauseum, and you can go into the Kallamar battle with a total of 48 hearts.

If you can successfully replicate this — before it’s patched out, anyways — then you can approach this one with a devil may care attitude and tank to your heart’s content.

Lamb vs. Kallamar

If you use the abovementioned glitch, there’s a chance that you won’t be too worried about Kallamar’s set of moves. But, for those who don’t — this one’s for you.

Kallamar’s primary abilities all revolve around bullet hell mechanics. To start, they’ll shoot fire bullets in your direction, and you’ll need to move quickly to dodge them. It’s crucial that you get some hits in any time you possibly can, because the sooner this fight ends, the better. In the second half, hammers were my go-to weapon. What they lack in speed, they make up for in sheer power.

Secondly, they’ll send a ring of bullets in your direction, which is easy enough to avoid. Kallamar will also send bullets in all directions, with small gaps that can be used to emerge unharmed. Though, this can be very difficult to pull off without precision. Lastly, they can send a single ring of bullets around the arena, which can (usually) be dodged with a well-timed dodge-roll. Also, Kallamar will occasionally follow you around the arena and swing their sword once you’re within range. If they do this, be sure to dodge-roll around them to trigger the move, but be out of range by the time they actually complete the move.

If you can avoid a watery grave, you’ll claim the Bishop’s heart, and there will be only one chain left until The One Who Waits is freed from their prison. Go back to the cult and get ready to enter the Silk Cradle.
