For many gamers, myself included, character customization is a big part of any game, as it allows you to be creative. When it comes to being able to express yourself, this is a feature that can become something that feels invaluable. Especially when done right, you can really dig in, recreating yourself in-game or going to the opposite end and making someone else entirely.

Luckily for racing fans, EA and Criterion Software’s latest release, Need for Speed Unbound offers players a robust character customization system that’s both parts simple and effective. How to Customize Your Character in Need for Speed Unbound

When it comes to building your ideal character in Need for Speed Unbound, it’s actually something you can do twice. You’re prompted to create a unique character for both experiences in Unbound; the campaign and online multiplayer. This is nice because it allows you to try new things with each one.

You’ll have a wide array of preset characters to choose from at the beginning for you to then build off of. After picking your preset, you can head to the Character tab in your garage to actually customize them. Here, you’ll have a large number of customization items to choose from, which we’ll break down.

Model Select

• You’re able to select a new preset to build off of with this option.

Head

• This option allows you to change hair, hair color, facial hair, facial hair color, face details like beauty marks or make-up, and sunglasses.
• There are a lot of really great haircuts for just about any kind of person.

Clothing

• Here, you’ll be able to choose coats/jackets, tops, bottoms, shoes, and hats/caps.
• Tops and coats/jackets can be layered or left alone which is a nice touch.
• You can search through specific brands to find what you like.
• There’s a decent selection of clothing, though it may be difficult for more feminine people to find pleasing aesthetics.

Poses

• Poses are the sport of victory dances your character will do at events.
• They’re cute, but don’t really make a big impression.

How to Get Cosmetics in Need for Speed Unbound

• Players can unlock new customization options either by purchasing them outright or being rewarded with them for free by playing.
• You’ll be able to snag a few from playing the various Challenges the game has to offer.
