First things first, to find and start the Time Rifts you need to go to Tyrnhold Reservoir in Thaldraszus and wait for the horn icon to show up, signaling when the event will be online. It will start every hour and it will last for 15 minutes in total. Time Rifts consist of two phases in two different locations.

We should also mention that there are things called Paracausal Flakes, which are the event’s currency that can be used to purchase items from the vendors in the event and can be farmed separately after you have completed your Time Rifts quests.

First Phase of Time Rifts

The first phase of Time Rifts is in Tyrhold Reservoir, Thaldraszus region (49.45 59.02) and it lasts around 10 minutes. During that time you need to complete one of the random challenges you’re given by the game including finding certain quest items, flying on a dragon and killing NPCs, solving puzzles, or farming a number of enemies in the area.

Doing these will fill up your Temporal Essence meter and you’ll receive different rewards depending on whether you fill it to 1000, 2000, or 3000 threshold. Here’s the list of what you can expect for each fulfilled threshold:

  1. 1000 Temporal Essence – You get a Box of Tampered Reality containing 20 Paracausal Flakes and 15 Soridormi reputation.
  2. 2000 Temporal Essence – You get a Box of Volatile Reality that gives you 40 Paracausal Flakes and 30 Soridormi reputation.
  3. 3000 Temporal Essence – You get a Box of Collapsed Reality that will award you with 80 Paracausal Flakes, 60 Soridormi reputation, and Collapsed Reality achievement.

When you have completed the event in the first stage, you are moving on to the next one.

Second Phase of Time Rifts

In the second stage of Time Rifts, you will be going into an alternate reality through a portal that will open up at the Reservoir. There are 7 of those alternate realities and each one brings a twist with it.

  • Azmourne – A world where the Scourge won.
  • A.Z.E.R.O.T.H. – An alternate reality where King Mechagon successfully activated his doomsday device, and there are only robotic creatures there now.
  • Azmerloth – In this timeline, Azeroth seems pretty much the same except for the fact that it’s only inhabited by the Murlocks.
  • Azewrath – An alternate reality of demons, where the Burning Legion won the War of the Ancients.
  • Azq’roth – An alternate reality where Black Empire rules Azeroth and the environment is dead and ravaged.
  • Ulderoth – Alternate timeline where the Titans have seized control of Azeroth.
  • Warlands – A world where Horde and Alliance are at a forever war.

These alternate realities will be brought to you randomly and once you’re there you’ll need to defeat its boss, Fractured Causality. Fractured Causality will take the form of a boss corresponding to the world in which you are located so for example in Azmourne you will fight the Lich King while in Azewrath you’ll face Illidan.

While fighting in Time Rift you’ll receive around 1 or 2 Paracausal Flakes and 1 or 2 reputation with Soridormi while killing enemies, around 30 of both the Paracausal Flakes and Soridormi reputation when you complete a task, and 150 Paracausal Flakes and 400 Soridormi reputation when you kill the boss.

Once you’ve completed the Time Rift and left the portal approach Soridormi for your real reward – Contained Paracausality. This collection of rewards contains the following:

  • Gold (usually around 350)
  • 1000 Paracausal Flakes
  • Soridormi reputation (usually around 2800)
  • 1x Drake’s Shadowflame Crest Fragment (for gear crafting)
  • 1x Dilated Time Capsule – You can use this item to buy level 402 gear from Shi Everbreeze (catch-up gear vendor)
  • 1x Encapsulated Destiny – An item that once used guarantees an additional reward from the next Time Rift boss. Make sure you use it before entering the portal.
  • Chance for 1x Greater Encapsulated Destiny – An item that guarantees an additional reward from the next Time Rift boss that will surely give you an unobtained mount or battle pet from one of the invading realities. Keep in mind that this can be a double-edged sword since this means you can get a both great mount that you don’t have and a plain and common one that you happen to have missed in your previous farming.

Vendors in Time Rift

There will be 8 vendors trading in the Tyrhold Reservoir. They will take Paracausal Flakes for their goods and offer a wide range of battle pets, mounts, cosmetics, etc. All items you find at these vendors will also have a drop chance from the Time Rift itself. Each vendor sells around a dozen items so you’ll have plenty of interesting gear to shop around for!
