When you think of eating fish, you probably think of the singular “fishy” flavor profile, but in actuality, there are different fishes for every taste imaginable! Salty, sour, bitter, sweet; if it swims, it tastes! Case in point, there’s nothing sweeter than a Honey Cod. Here’s how to catch the Honey Cod in Sports Story.

How to Catch the Honey Cod in Sports Story

After you and Chase Codsworth venture to the Dark Shores atop a houseboat, you’ll bring the big tribute of fish to the altar. A fishy individual emerges, expresses dissatisfaction with your bounty, and uses an oversized sticky hand to snag Chase and drag him into the abyss of the brine. What an odd sentence that was… anyway, this won’t stand!

On the urgings of the houseboat captain, you’ll need to capture a Honey Cod. This rare genus of fish has a naturally sticky body, which you can use to trick the fishy person and rescue Chase. To catch it, though, you need to make it appear.

Luring the Honey Cod

Heading east from where the houseboat docked, you’ll come upon a small, verdant island. Scattered around the grass of this island are small red apples. Interact with these apples, and you can tee up with them. A large yellow target will appear in the center of the island’s pond. You need to use your wedge to pitch each of the apples on the island into the water to summon the Honey Cod. Mind your shots here, as the wind is somewhat strong. If it’s blowing east, give it a little extra distance to the west to make up the difference.

Once you chip all of the apples into the pond, a rainbow fish shadow will appear. Stand on the wooden beam and cast your line to lock onto the Honey Cod. True to its name, it prefers sweet bait like shrimp. It’s a fighter too, so you might want to equip a Steel Line.

Once you’ve successfully fished up the Honey Cod, return to the altar and place it down. The fishy person will emerge again, attempt to grab the sticky fish with his sticky hand, and end up getting dragged down to the abyss himself, allowing you to infiltrate his lair.
