Bug-type Pokémon aren’t the most popular and sought-after in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Most of them have several weaknesses and low stats to begin with, which makes them not too attractive to hunt for and train.
Scatterbug resembles a small moth or caterpillar, and like other Bug Pokémon, they are quite an acquired taste. But when trained well and evolved to its full potential, Scatterbug transforms into a powerful Pokémon who can fare well with other Pokémon despite its weak stats and disadvantages in the beginning. Here we detail how you can catch and evolve Scatterbug into Spewpa, a promising Pokémon that is worth hunting for and training with to evolve.
Where can you find Scatterbug in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet?
It is fairly easy to encounter a Scatterbug, but you have to take note that they can only be found in a couple of areas within the South Province. These are Area One and Area Five. The following are the initial stats of Scatterbug:
- HP: 38
- Attack: 35
- Defense: 40
- Special Attack: 27
- Special Defense: 25
- Speed: 35
- Total Combat Points: 200
How to evolve Scatterbug into Spewpa
Typically, bug-type Pokémon are easy to train. They also evolve early on unlike other Pokémon. Scatterbug evolves into Spewpa at level nine. To evolve Scatterbug into Spewpa, you need 25 Scatterbug Candy. You can also chance upon Wild Spewpa around the Southern Province so you can opt to catch one instead of training up your own Scatterbug.
How to evolve Spewpa into Vivillon
When trained further, Spewpa evolves into Vivillon at level 12. With just 100 Scatterbug Candy, your little cocoon turns into a majestic winged butterfly. Just like with Scatterbug and Spewpa, you can encounter a Vivillon out in the wild. But instead of the Southern Province, you need to look around in the East Paldean Sea and the North Province areas instead.

What are the stats of all Scatterbug evolutions?
After catching a Scatterbug out in the wild, you’ll notice that Scatterbug begins with a measly stat total of 200. There is also not much of a growth in stats when it evolves into Spewpa.
Base Stats | Scatterbug | Spewpa | Vivillon |
HP | 38 | 45 | 80 |
Attack | 35 | 22 | 52 |
Defense | 40 | 60 | 50 |
Sp. Attack | 27 | 27 | 90 |
Sp. Defense | 25 | 30 | 50 |
Speed | 35 | 29 | 89 |
Total | 200 | 213 | 411 |
Like with any other Pokémon, you should aim to evolve Scatterbug to its fullest potential which is Vivillon. This is when it almost doubles its stats and it learns new deadly moves that are good for an offense like the Quiver Dance. Speed and Special Attacks are also Vivillon’s best areas.
