Now with even more options to evolve the new Generation 9 Pokémon, Scarlet and Violet provide players with a new experience, combining that of what we know best in the Pokémon franchise with the gameplay mechanics of Pokémon Arceus. This is an exciting new experience of Pokémon fans…if you can look past the initial poor performance in its release.

How to Catch Greavard

Greavard can be found predominately in the Northern regions of Paldea. Often seen in the Glasedo Mountains as their go-to habitat. Greavards can be spotted by their distinct appearance of a candle. Often hiding and camouflaging in the snowy habitat, you can spot the Greavard via its candle poking out of the ground. Greavard has the 10% added chance to pick up items after and outside of battle. As this is only a chance increase, players should not expect this to be a guaranteed pick-up bonus.

This Generation 9 Pokémon can also be found in the Provinces:

  • North Province (Area One)
  • West Province (Area Three)
  • North Province (Area Three)

How to Evolve Greavard

Greavard can evolve into its more powerful form, Houndstone. The level that players will need Greavard to get to in order to begin the evolution is Level 30. We recommend that when players level up Greavard at Level 29 that they then go to level up Greavard again at night-time. After reaching Level 30 and levelling up once more, only at night, Greavard will evolve into Houndstone.

Players also have the option to capture Houndstone without evolving Greavard, if they wanted to focus on getting Greavard to Level 50 instead. Houndstone can be found in the Provinces:

  • North Province (Area One)
  • South Province (Area Six)
  • North Province (Area Two)

It is possible to find Houndstone in Glaseado Mountain and Casseroya Lake, however we recommend that players capture two Greavards as these are easier to capture. One Greavard can be evolved whilst the other can be levelled up to its max level cap.

That is how to capture and evolve Greavard in the new Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. For more Scarlet and Violet content see our related article: How to Check Natures in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.
