How to Catch a Wild Tera Pokémon in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet
Wild Tera Pokémon aren’t as difficult to track down as you might think. You’ll see a lot of wild Pokémon roaming around in the wilderness, but the ones you have to look out for are the ones that sparkle; Wild Tera Pokémon will glow and emit sparkles that can be seen a mile away, so you don’t have to worry about missing them amidst all the other wild Pokémon! Once you’ve found a Wild Tera Pokémon, you can start a battle with it by simply running straight into it.
After you’ve started a battle with a Wild Tera Pokémon, battle it like you would any other wild Pokémon that you’re trying to catch. Once you get the Tera Pokémon’s health low enough, it will switch out of its Tera form and into its regular form (for example, a Wild Tera Jigglypuff would just turn back into a normal Jigglypuff). This is advantageous because it makes the Tera Pokémon’s attacks hit softer and it will be easier to catch.
Once you’ve got its health down low enough, all you have to do is throw a Poké Ball at it and pray that it captures on the first try! Of course, if it doesn’t capture on the first try, you can always immediately try again or weaken it with a status effect first, such as Sleep or Paralysis. Wild Tera Pokémon may be harder to come by than regular Pokémon, but that doesn’t mean they’re not worth catching!
