Iron Harvest is an incredible RTS game where players get to command soldiers and mechs alike as they play an alternate history of World War One. Being an RTS, you will have to build up your armies from little more than nothing else you will get run over. To recruit soldiers and build mechs, you’ll have to build some buildings, and potentially upgrade them, too. Here is how to build and upgrade in Iron Harvest.
How to build buildings in Iron Harvest
Buildings in Iron Harvest are structures you can assemble in the field or near your headquarters. Buildings will provide you with many advantages, and some are very necessary for victory.
Buildings you can construct are Barracks, Workshop, Bunkers, and Anti-Air guns.
All of these structures require an engineer to build.
If you want to build anything, select an engineering unit. On the bottom-right, Pannell will have a bunch of abilities. The button with the house symbol is the engineer’s building menu. Once opened, everything that the faction’s engineers can build will be presented, both buildings and defenses. All buildings require resources, so make sure you have plenty.
If you want your engineers to construct a production building, be it a Barracks or Workshop, then they must be placed near your headquarters. The structure will turn green if it is possible to place it.
Production buildings allow you to recruit units. The Barracks recruit soldiers and the Workshop produces mechs. Once built, they will be a base level so can only produce base units.
Any bunkers or forts or defensive buildings can be placed anywhere on the map as long as nothing obstructs placement. Again, it will turn green if you can place it. Defensive buildings are different across factions and have different special abilities and costs. They will help you better defend an area as long as an engineer can build it without getting attacked by the enemy.

How to upgrade buildings in Iron Harvest
To make the building produce more units or to enhance its abilities, you can upgrade the buildings. Upgrading the buildings does not require an engineer, they will passively get upgraded over time.
When selecting a building, an upgrade button will appear in the bottom right panel. It will require resources, but if you can afford it, you can click it to begin the upgrade.
