How Replayable is Hogwarts Legacy? Answered

Again and again?

Through Hogwarts Legacy’s 30-hour campaign, you’ll do everything from assist a ghost in stealing rotten roast beef to flying a broomstick to learning the Dark Arts. The game is filled with content for both gamers and Harry Potter fans to love. But what should you do when Hogwarts Legacy is finished and you’ve collected your last puzzle? Is the game replayable?

How Replayable is Hogwarts Legacy? Answered

To fully complete Hogwarts Legacy, you’ll need to play through the game a sluggish four times. Each of the four Hogwarts houses has a unique quest to complete, but unfortunately, the houses act as more window dressing than anything that really affects gameplay.

You’ll meet the same companions, perform the same tasks, and also fight the same boss battles in the same order. Likewise, since Hogwarts Legacy is primarily built around puzzles, it lacks a certain replayability that other games might have. Like a murder mystery, the puzzles aren’t quite as fun once you know how to solve them.

In comparison, to 2022’s Elden Ring, there’s a night and day difference. Elden Ring felt vast in the number of random enemy encounters, loot, and other things to find. It’s a game that players are still discovering new details about a year later. Replayability was built into Elden Ring’s DNA since a major component of the game is dying over and over again until you either get good or break your controller in half.

In comparison, Hogwarts Legacy is much more story-driven. It plays out like a single-player narrative wedged into an open-world game. Sadly, the choices you’re able to make don’t end up having much effect on the plot or characters, meaning things play out mostly the same way. Players are likely to overlook these things as the game does have its strengths in a fully realized Hogwarts school. It’s just a shame you can’t truly interact with the world and its characters in a fashion similar to Bully or even other RPGs.
