Nintendo’s latest venture into the world of the little pink guzzler, Kirby, is his latest installment called Kirby’s Dream Buffet. Known for his love of eating food, enemies, and even inanimate objects, Kirby’s Dream Buffet allows players to indulge in Kirby’s favorite pastime while competing head-to-head with friends and other players, the world over. Though Kirby’s Dream Buffet is mostly a multiplayer experience, how does it really all work? Let’s talk about it!
How Does Multiplayer Work in Kirby Dream Buffet?
When it comes to the multiplayer aspects of Kirby’s Dream Buffet, there are actually numerous different ways to achieve playing the game with others. You can do this locally, through online services, or even through wireless local play with friends or other nearby gamers.
To play with others, simply boot up the game and head toward the large screen in the middle back area of your “home table”. From there, you’ll be given the options of Battle Mode which allows you to play locally with another real person as well as additional CPU players, Online Mode which allows for you to play with up to 3 other real players online either in a public or private lobby, or lastly, Local Play Mode which allows for you to play with up to 3 other players on separate consoles wirelessly.
Can You Play Four-Player on One Nintendo Switch?
As far as playing on a single console goes, Kirby’s Dream Buffet only allows for another player to partake in the fun if you’re limited to only a single console. This is done through Battle Mode. It’s unfortunate that more players cannot join, especially when you take into account the fact that this mode does allow for up to 4 players total, with the other two spots being limited to CPU players.
Can You Mix Local and Online Multiplayer in Kirby Dream Buffet?
Another unfortunate realization is the fact that you simply cannot mix Local and Online multiplayer in Kirby’s Dream Buffet. So if you’re playing locally on one console with a buddy and want to take the fun online, you can’t do it. Though, there is the Online Mode which you can utilize to play with friends both near and far. You just have to be on separate consoles to do so. And while Local Play Mode has “Local” in its title, this too is a wireless mode that involves 4 separate Switches. So, it could also be considered something of a local/online method of play too.
That’s all there is to know about how multiplayer works in Kirby’s Dream Buffet. There are many ways to play, offering alternatives for just about every kind of player and their situation. Though a local version with online capabilities would be nice, at least there are alternatives to it.
