How do you Unlock the Megalodon in Hungry Shark World?

The biggest and baddest.

Back in prehistoric times, most of the animals we know today were much, much bigger. There was a lot more space and a lot less humanity back then, so they had room to stretch out. One of the biggest, baddest predators on the block was the Megalodon, a gigantic shark estimated to have lived 23 to 3.6 million years ago. They’re long gone in real life, but how about in video games? How do you unlock the Megalodon in Hungry Shark World?

Fitting for its size and strength, the Megalodon is a member of the nameless !! tier of sharks in Hungry Shark World. In fact, it was the very first !!-tier shark ever added to the game, a title it rightfully deserves and then some. The Megalodon features the following stats:

  • Max Health: 431
  • Max Speed: 399
  • Max Bite: 500
  • Max Boost: 399

As a high-tier shark, it is, unfortunately, on the expensive side. In order to unlock the Megalodon in Hungry Shark World, you’ll first need to earn enough growth points to work your way up to the previous tier, the XXL sharks. Growth points are earned by devouring stuff around the ocean and completing the game’s missions. Once you own at least one XXL shark, you’ll meet the prerequisites for unlocking the Megalodon.

Even after meeting the prerequisites, though, you still need to actually buy the Megalodon to play as it. You can do this with two of the game’s three currencies: coins or gems. Specifically, you can buy the Megalodon with 250,000 coins or 500 gems. As a reminder, coins are the game’s baseline currency, received from simply playing as normal and making progress. Gems are a premium currency that you can exchange from coins on a 100:1 basis, or purchase with real money from the in-game store.

Ancient, gigantic sharks are unsurprisingly pricey, but it is worth it. The Megalodon packs some pretty monstrous stats even before you max them out, to say nothing of afterward. You wanna know why they went extinct? It wasn’t because they were hunted, it was because they ran out of stuff to hunt.
