How to Fix PS5 Error Code CE-100009-0

It’s exciting to purchase a brand new game. It’s less exciting, however, when, even if you buy physical, you still have to download / install updates and patches. But, what can put an even thicker damper on things is an error code, especially one that doesn’t give you any idea of what caused the error. In today’s specific example, we’re dealing with error code CE-100009-0, paired with the phrase ‘something went wrong.’

It’s like — yeah, we’re aware something went wrong, can you be any more specific?! To add insult to injury, the code isn’t present, at the time of writing, on the official PlayStation Support site. But, thankfully, we’re here to offer a helping hand in this trying time. It would seem that most instances of this error are caused by the user trying to download a digital game or update a physical one. So, how do we fix it?!

If you’re receiving this error code, all you need to do is clear out the downloaded files. It would seem the current consensus is that these files have been corrupted, which is triggering the error. To do this, all you need to do is navigate to your DOWNLOADS and cancel/delete the content in question. Then, press the OPTIONS button and make your way to the MANAGE GAME CONTENT directory.

Take the time to uninstall any relevant files associated with the game; not the game itself! Just the update or patch or whatever you were trying to download when the error was triggered. If that ends up being the game itself … then, yeah, you’ll probably want to clear out the game and do a fresh install. As soon as the files in question are uninstalled, give the process a second try. Ideally, doing this will avoid a second run-in with error code CE-100009-0. But, if you’re still suffering this specter, the origin of the issue might go deeper, and you may need to get PlayStation involved directly.
