To join a game with random players in Helldivers 2, you need to select a mission, fly there with your ship, and wait for the people to join. Don’t forget to set your Matchmaking Privacy settings to “public” so that players that aren’t your friends can join you.
Now, that’s the ideal setup. However, there are still ongoing issues with matchmaking and this regular way might not work for you. Luckily, players online have found a couple of workarounds that you can try.
Firstly, try and turn off Crossplay in Options > Gameplay > Crossplay. Numerous players have mentioned that this has helped them find random gamers to play with.
Secondly, be ready to reset your game/device often. Usually, when the matchmaking is working properly you will have no trouble getting people in your group or joining theirs pretty quickly.
