Helldivers 2 How to Play with Randoms

Random players, here we come!

Helldivers 2 caught a lot of attention, and that has caused both good and bad moments for the game. The good thing was that plenty of people were in this galactic battle, giving it a huge potential for coop. The bad news is that plenty of matchmaking options and servers have been failing.

Some fixes are being issued, and depending on where you are and on which system you’re playing, you might get a better or worse experience. Nevertheless, both PC and PS players have been wondering how to play with randoms when you don’t have a squad of friends online at the moment. We’ve dived into this, and here’s what we’ve found out.

How to Join a Game with Random Players in Helldivers 2

To join a game with random players in Helldivers 2, you need to select a mission, fly there with your ship, and wait for the people to join. Don’t forget to set your Matchmaking Privacy settings to “public” so that players that aren’t your friends can join you.

Now, that’s the ideal setup. However, there are still ongoing issues with matchmaking and this regular way might not work for you. Luckily, players online have found a couple of workarounds that you can try.

Firstly, try and turn off Crossplay in Options > Gameplay > Crossplay. Numerous players have mentioned that this has helped them find random gamers to play with.

Secondly, be ready to reset your game/device often. Usually, when the matchmaking is working properly you will have no trouble getting people in your group or joining theirs pretty quickly. However, when you sit there waiting and there’s nobody for a while, it probably means that your matchmaking is not working and restarting the game or the system will help you.

Find Coop Friends on Social Media

Alternatively, if you can play the team coop and can’t join in with random people, go to Reddit or Discord for example, and look for players to add you as friend. This way you’ve found random people online, and managed to work around the matchmaking bug. I’ve seen plenty of players do that already.

We hope the article helped you better understand Helldivers 2.
