Fire Emblem Engage – How Poison Works

You dare poison me? Oh well, bye bye.

I have to be completely honest with you, the poison status in any game haunts me. It has since the days of Nintendo 64, and it haunts me up to this day. I have never used it, but boy have I suffered from assassins, witches, and mages inflicting that status on my characters. You know, seeing your health disappear in front of your eyes while hopelessly trying to heal is something that has made me rage-quit a couple of times, and I consider myself a reasonable person. Well, as much as I hate this ability, it sure is powerful and one must respect it. With that being said, here is how poison works in Fire Emblem Engage.

In order to deal poison damage, you will have to use the Knife weapon to be able to do so. The Knife is only reserved for two specific classes: the Thief and the Wolf Knight. The Knife on its own has low damage output and potential, so that’s the reason it will benefit from the extra damage that will be dealt thanks to the poisoned status. And talking about poisoned status, every unit that has been poisoned will take damage at the end of their turn. Moreover, striking a poisoned unit repeatedly with the Knife will increase the damage that the unit will receive once their turn is over.

Poisoned units can be identified easily as having a purple skin icon on their health bar. Finally, the poisoned status will last until the end of the stage. To cure the status, you can use an Antitoxin, an item you can purchase at Somniel Item Shot for 400 gold, or you can use the Restore Staff.

If you are on the dealing side of the Knife, be sure to keep dealing the poison status to a powerful unit, and if it is about to fall, redirect your poison damage to another unit. The poison will take care of the other. If you are receiving poison damage, cure your poisoned units as soon as possible. Otherwise, well, you know what will happen.
