Low savage surroundings, neutral and good biomes are the best. However, we recommend knowing the basic concept behind a biome being easy to play in. Biomes which have an abundance of resources are really easy to adapt to. These biomes can support your demand for different materials without struggle. Some examples of such biomes are Forests, Rivers, Lakes, Murky Pools, and more. In general, try to aim for biomes with a mix of everything and less enemies to worry about.

Biomes which are closer to glaciers and desserts are hostile places in Dwarf Fortress. Players will have a hard time finding resources and will probably not make it if they are new. Players should think what they want most while building and surviving in the game, and select a biome according to their requirements.
