Does Perk Slot Formatting Matter in Dark and Darker?

Must you carefully format your perks?

In Dark and Darker, you’ll seldom get any help with your dungeoneering. The kindest thing the game can offer is a swift death. However, one thing that will help you on your way are perks, little bonuses that could add up to a huge benefit depending on your play style. But how do you get perks in Dark and Darker, and does their formatting matter?

How to get perks in Dark and Darker

Perks, in Dark and Darker, are bonuses that the player can equip to assist them in the dungeon. Every 5 levels, the player is granted a perk slot in addition to the one perk slot they unlock at level 0. Up to a maximum of four perk slots may be unlocked.

In the class menu, the player can freely choose which perks they want to have equipped, and they would have to choose carefully depending on their playstyle. Naturally, you cannot change your perks whilst in the dungeon, otherwise you may as well have all of your perks active at the same time.

So, in essence, you don’t get perks, but perk slots that allow you to equip your perks. But does the formatting of how you place your perks matter?

Does perk slot formatting matter in Dark and Darker?

The very short answer is no, the formatting of your perks doesn’t affect anything in Dark and Darker. All that matters is that you have them active, no matter in which slot you put them in. Sorry to bring the bad news, but there is no sort of perk formatting optimization that can give you further boosts in the dungeon.
