You know why Digimon are more convenient than regular pets? Because their data-based bodies mean everything about them can be condensed into easily-digestible statistics. Don’t even tell me you wouldn’t try to min-max your dog if you knew its stats. Well, you can’t do that, but you can min-max a Digimon if you know what you’re doing. Here’s an explanation of Digimon stats in Digimon World: Next Order.
Digimon World: Next Order Stats Explained
As Digimon World: Next Order is both a life sim and a traditional RPG, it’s important to understand your Digimon partners from multiple perspectives. It’s not just about how efficient they are in battle (though that is important), but it’s also about how long they live, how well they socialize, and so on. For these purposes, Digimon have two sets of stats: battle stats and life stats.

Battle stats indicate a Digimon’s basic combat proficiencies. If you play a lot of RPGs, most of these are pretty obvious, but here’s the low-down on each of them as a reminder:
- HP: A Digimon’s health. Run out, they’re knocked out.
- MP: A Digimon’s capacity for special moves. Using special moves consumes MP, so if you have more, you can use special moves more.
- STR: Strength, or a Digimon’s raw attacking power. The damage of their regular and special attacks are informed by this stat.
- STA: Stamina, or a Digimon’s ability to take a hit. Higher STA means that your Digimon won’t take as much damage from an attack.
- WIS: Wisdom, or the likelihood of beneficial effects. Digimon with higher WIS don’t need as much MP to use special moves, will occasionally auto-guard against attacks, and have a higher critical hit rate.
- SPD: Speed, or how quickly a Digimon acts. Digimon with higher SPD are more likely to go first in a battle.
Life Stats
While strong battle stats are the ultimate goal of raising a Digimon, that process is better facilitated by strong life stats. These stats will raise and lower as you interact with your Digimon, training it, feeding it, or socializing it with other Digimon. These levels will affect how your Digimon performs in battle in subtler ways than their battle stats.
Here’s what each life stat means, starting from the top of their life stat readout:
- Mood: A general metric of your Digimon’s happiness. Digimon with a better Mood deal more damage in battle and reap greater gains from training.
- Discipline: How serious and committed your Digimon are. Certain Discipline levels are required for particular Digivolutions.
- Curse: How badly your Digimon has to use the bathroom. Don’t let it fill up, trust us on that.
- Fatigue: How exhausted your Digimon are. Fatigue increases with battling and training; if it gets too high, your Digimon may become sick or even lose some of their lifespan.
- Bond: How close you are with your Digimon. Digimon with higher Bond will start with more Order Points in a battle.
- DigiFriend: How well your Digimon socializes with other Digimon. Digimon with higher DigiFriend will come to their teammates’ rescue in a battle, taking lethal blows or bestowing buffs.
Digimon need to be raised with love and diligence to do their very best for you. Show them some kindness, and the occasional stern hand, and they’ll be all the stronger for it.
