Is the December 2021 Community Day Special Research Ticket in Pokémon Go Worth It?

With 2021 coming to a close, Pokémon Go is wrapping things up with the December Community Day event. December’s Pokémon Go Community Day takes place throughout the weekend of December 18 and 19, between the hours of 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. local time. Like previous events, Trainers can pick up a Special Research ticket. Logically, you might be wondering if you should get the December 2021 Community Day Special Research Ticket in Pokémon Go.

To help you answer that question, let’s explain how things work. Purchasing the December 2021 Community Ticket opens up a Special Research story that grants a bunch of unique rewards and potentially Pokémon encounters. You likely already know the drill if you’ve participated in a Community Day event like this before. 

Regardless of if you purchase the ticket or not, there is a whole boatload of Pokémon that will be spawning and hatching more frequently during the event. In fact, all of the Pokémon featured in 2021 Community Day events will spawn more often in the wild, while the 2020 Pokémon will hatch more often from eggs. Additionally, there are some event-specific bonuses, including:

• Incense activated during the event will last for three hours
• Lure Modules activated during the event will last for three hours
• 1/2 Hatch Distance when Eggs are placed in an Incubator during the event
• 2× Catch XP
• 2× Catch Stardust
• 25% reduced stardust cost for trades*
• 1 extra special trade per day*

Considering the sheer number of Pokémon spawning during this event, not to mention the higher shiny rates and exclusive moves, it will be an event you won’t want to miss. Last year, Special Research granted Trainers a couple of Elite TMs, Sinnoh Stones, Stardust, and a nice supply of Poké Balls.
