In this fantasy RPG you take part in a quest with friends to discover treasure buried deep throughout the lands. On your journey, you’ll face monsters and have to find specific items that can be used to craft various objects. You also have the opportunity to sell your finds to in-game merchants if you’re looking to make extra cash.
Volcanic Ash is the material you will need if you want to make easy money. If you want to learn how to find it you’re going to want to stick around for this guide. Here’s where you can get the mysterious Volcanic Ash in Dark and Darker.
How to Find Volcanic Ash in Dark and Darker?
Crafting materials in video games has been around for many years and is a feature in a game that’s not leaving anytime soon. Crafting can be used to make healing objects, new armor, upgrade weapons, or as a trading component to get rare items. Volcanic Ash is a crafting item you can use in order to trade in for gold. It’s a rare item that requires you to defeat an enemy in order to get your hands on it.
You will need to defeat the NPC Wizards (a Potent Spellcaster) to get a Volcanic Ash drop that you can sell to a merchant later. Other than being an item you can sell for money, currently it seems that it has no other purpose. If you want to stock up on Volcanic Ash you need to defeat the wizards by either blasting them with Lightning Strike or Zap. This is the only way to obtain the Volcanic Ash, so defeating them, shouldn’t be an issue since they’re not all that powerful.
Note: Due to the game still being fairly new, there are speculations indicating that the item will be of use in future quests. We suggest you hold onto a couple of Volcanic Ashes in case a quest asks for it.

What Merchants can You Sell Volcanic Ash to in Dark and Darker?
Players who want to hold onto the Volcanic Dust are probably not interested in knowing where all the merchants are located in the game. But, if they have other items they need to get rid of, it doesn’t hurt, to know who these merchants are.
Merchants such as Goblin, Pumpkin Man, Valentine, and Santa are merchants who are available for special events, whereas the others are just your everyday merchants. Volcanic Ash can be sold for 60 GP if you want to get rid of it and it can be sold to these merchants:
- Alchemists
- Armorers
- Weaponsmiths
- Treasure
- Goblin
- Pumpkin Man
- Valentine
- Santa
