Cloyster Weaknesses and Counters in Pokémon GO

Cloyster is one of those Pokémon you don’t really see out and about that often, but when you do see it, it’s gonna wreck some dudes. One of the most notable Cloysters in the franchise belongs to Lorelei of the Kanto Elite Four, and if a member of an Elite Four is packing one, you know they’re not Pokémon to be trifled with. Here are Cloyster’s weaknesses and counters in Pokémon GO.

Cloyster Weaknesses and Counters in Pokémon GO

Okay, I know I said before that Cloyster is a potentially dangerous Pokémon, but in all honesty, it’s not that impressive. It does have decent defense with a base level of 256, but it also has more weaknesses than resistances, so if you just exploit one of those, it can’t do much of anything to stop you.

The best raw DPS pick for exploiting Cloyster’s weaknesses is Lucario, hands down. As a Fighting/Steel type, not only is Lucario packing plenty of powerful Fighting moves to exploit Cloyster’s Ice typing, it’s also resistant to Ice attacks and neutral to Water attacks, so there’s no avenue for Cloyster to get a leg up on it.

In general, strong Electric types like Electivire will also work. Electric types aren’t resistant to Ice or Water, but they’re not weak to them either, so as long as you’ve got the DPS to end the fight quickly, it shouldn’t be a concern. If you’re unsure, Magnezone is a great middle ground as an Electric/Steel type. The fight might take a little longer, since it’s not the best DPS pick, but its Ice resistance should keep it safe the whole way through.
