You can accomplish this on PC, Mac, and iOS.

Julius Caesar Leader Ability: Veni, Vidi, Vici

The Julius Caesar strategy is simple.

With Julius Caesar, you get 200 gold when you conquer a city for the first time, and 100 gold when you clear a barbarian outpost. Once you research steel, the amount you get for these tasks is even higher (500 gold each!), so don’t forget to rush the steel technology! Use the unique Roman unit, the Legion, and their ability to build special forts to accomplish this efficiently. To get Legions, rush the iron working tech.

This also means it’s ideal to start conquering civs early (build your army ASAP) and to play with barbarian clans mode on for maximum barbarian-sacking opportunities.

Don’t forget to build Roman baths, which provide housing and amenities, to help your civ grow fast, stay happy, and most importantly, support a healthy conquering army. If possible, try building one in each city.

The Rome “All Roads Lead to Rome” ability speeds the act of conquering (thanks to auto-built roads after conquer) and helps you fund your army with extra trade route money.

More Advice for Playing as Julius Caesar

Spend, spend, spend. Once you start making money, do NOT be afraid to spend money to buy or upgrade your units, because their conquering and vanquishing barbarians will pay for your growing army while your citizens remain content with their Roman baths. Add the appropriate policy cards to decrease the cost of unit upgrades and housing and maintaining units.
