Can You Save Fig in Hogwarts Legacy?

Going the way of Dumbledore?

Within Hogwarts Legacy’s sprawling campaign, Professor Fig takes on the role of the wise mentor to the player, guiding them on their way to Hogwarts and magic. Fig is the first face you seen in the game besides your own and the short-lived George. In that way, he takes on a role that’s both similar in some aspects to Hagrid and Dumbledore. But as with all wise mentor characters, most stories follow one of two paths: they end up being secretly evil or end up perishing to further the hero’s journey. Players may be wondering if they can save Fig from his late-game death.

Can You Save Fig in Hogwarts Legacy?

Unfortunately, Professor Fig’s death is a constant presence in both of the game’s endings. Whether you choose to contain or unleash the ancient magic, Fig still ends up dying in the conclusion. So no, you cannot save Fig in Hogwarts Legacy.

Your actions have very little consequences on the ending of the game outside of whether or not to release the ancient magic. The player mourns the loss of his mentor, who died trying to stop Rookwood from obtaining the ancient magic. In the good ending, Fig and the player share one final heart-to-heart before he passes. In the bad ending, the circumstances of his death are less clear.

No matter what ending you wind up with, the player returns to Hogwarts where Professor Weasley and the staff hold a eulogy for Fig and honor the man that he was. As for the player, they are able to resume the end of the year in an attempt to finish any puzzles or side quests that they hadn’t done up to that point. Like Dumbledor before him, Fig had a lasting impact on his students, specifically the player. It remains to be seen how his death might impact future installments of the franchise.
