Can You Play Bayonetta 3 on Steam Deck?

Time to go vroom!

The latest release of the Bayonetta franchise, Bayonetta 3, has enjoyed positive reviews (in spite of some voice acting related incidents). Having said that, one of the main issues that plague Nintendo titles is the performance. Being the weakest of the consoles available today in terms of performance, the Nintendo Switch surely struggles with certain games. Third party games need to be scaled down in order to be playable at a minimum of 30 fps. Nowadays, some first party titles and exclusives also suffer the same fate. However, certain online users and gamers have developed, let’s say, alternative ways to play Nintendo Switch titles. So, with that little teaser, can you play Bayonetta 3 on Steam Deck?

Can You Play Bayonetta 3 on Steam Deck?

No, you can’t. Except, yes, you can. Confused? Me too. Let’s dig a little deeper. Of course, there is no official way to play Nintendo Switch titles on the Steam Deck or other devices. Nintendo is very (and I mean very) strict about their exclusivity policies. However, this has not stopped gamers from using, again, alternative ways to play Switch titles. The name of the game is emulation. And that is a big no-no for Nintendo.

So, if you ask me, I haven’t told you this, ok? Apparently, the game runs silky smooth on the Steam Deck. Thanks to emulators such as Yuzu and Ryujinx, some users have been able to run the game at a stable 60 fps. That’s a big upgrade from the Switch’s performance that vary depending on the active instance being shown (in game fighting: around 50 fps, pre-rendered cutscenes: 30 fps, and in-game cutscenes: around 30 fps). Some people may say it is the best way to play the game. Me? I will remain neutral at the being. But, I think I have given you the enough information for you to explore your possibilites and experience alternative ways to enjoy your Nintendo titles. Just for academic purposes, right guys? Hello?
