The short answer is yes, you can change your name in I Was a Teenage Exocolonist. The easiest and quickest way to personalize your name is by clicking on the “Something Else” option when the game begins and you’re asked what your name is. At this point in the game, you’ll also have the option to choose “Solanaceae”, “Solana”, or “Solane”; the “Something Else” option should be the fourth option, underneath the premade names.

When you click the “Something Else” option, a small window should pop up with a textbox that you can type your preferred name into. This is the earliest point in the game that you can customize your character’s name, but this isn’t the only point in the game that allows you to change your name. If you chose one of the premade names or input a unique name that you would like to change now that your game’s started, don’t worry! You can always rename your character at any point in your playthrough!

Customizing your name in I Was a Teenage Exocolonist is easier than you think, and renaming your character, later on, is even easier! At any point in your playthrough, you can rename your character to anything you want. All you need to do to change your character’s name is click on the “Friends” icon (the heart symbol) at the top of your screen. Clicking on this icon should bring up your profile along with your other colony friends’ profiles.

To rename your character, click on your current character’s name on your profile and it will bring up a textbox that will allow you to input your new name. You can also change your character’s appearance to appear more masculine or feminine from this page, and this page also allows you to change your pronouns at any time!
