Can You Change the Difficulty in Honey, I Joined a Cult?

Honey, I Joined a Cult isn’t necessarily a difficult game, but starting any new game can be tough if you’re not familiar with the gameplay. There’s no shame in starting on the easiest difficulty to get a hang of the game first; after all, you can always play the game again on a more difficult setting once your first playthrough is over.

Thankfully, Honey, I Joined a Cult doesn’t have just one difficulty setting, it has three (four, if you count Custom)! This game’s three main difficulty settings are Relaxed, Standard, and Challenging. In addition to these main settings, it also has a Custom setting that allows players to customize the game’s difficulty settings to their own preferences.

Like many games, Honey, I Joined a Cult’s default difficulty is Standard, so if you don’t manually change your difficulty settings, your game will automatically be set to Standard. The Standard difficulty of this game isn’t terrible, but if you’ve never played the game before, it’s best to start with an easier difficulty. Thankfully, this game makes changing difficulties incredibly easy!

Changing the difficulty in Honey, I Joined a Cult is much easier than you’d think, though you can only do it at the start of the game; you’ll definitely want to choose your difficulty wisely, because you won’t be able to go back and change it again once the game has started. To change your game’s difficulty, you’ll first need to start a new game.

Once you’ve started a new game and you’ve gotten through the intro sequence, you’ll be brought to the Cult Customization screen. In the bottom right corner, you’ll see a button (next to the Start Game button) with the word “Difficulty” on it. Click on this button to be taken to the game’s difficulty settings. From there, you’ll be able to choose any alternative difficulty you want, whether it be Challenging, Relaxed, or Custom!
