Can You Be a Good Slytherin in Hogwarts Legacy? Answered

What kind of snake will you be?

In Hogwarts Legacy, players can choose which House they belong in via the Sorting Hat, although these have no real differences across the Houses in regard to how the game is played. A House Quest will appear for players to complete, being the only exclusive House Questline within Hogwarts Legacy. The core differences are based on the design of the Common Room and cosmetics such as your character’s appearance. You must gain knowledge on the Merlin Trials before gaining access to these Quests. But if you choose Slytherin, can you be good within this House? Or is the only option to be evil? We have the answers below.

Can you Choose Houses?

If you go into this game without knowing anything previously, you will be sorted into a House based on your answers with the Sorting Hat. Your choices will result in what House you will attend. However, there are ways to get into the House of your choosing based on the Sorting Hat questions. Whilst there are only two questions asked by the Sorting Hat, the first seeming rather irrelevant. Players should choose ‘Ambition’ when asked about your personality. You can also choose Slytherin after you enter the quiz so that you will get exactly what you want as this decision is final.

Can you be Good in Slytherin?

Whilst throughout the Harry Potter universe we have been made aware that Slytherin are inherently bad, this is not always the case. In fact there have been good Slytherin in the past such as Snape, Merlin and Professor Slughorn. Even in the interpretation of Slytherin through the eyes of authority appears more good than evil. Such as Aesop Sharp, Abraham Ronan and the Headmaster, Phineas Nigellus Black who will act as your mentors within Slytherin.

The Slytherin House is known for its cunningness, ambition and thirst for power. But it’s within that where you will see the difference between this House over others. Your reputation as a Slytherin is not set in stone. It is the decisions you make throughout the game which will determine whether you are good wizard or not. But can you be evil throughout Hogwarts Legacy? You can do evil things such as utilizing the unforgivable curses: Imperio, Avada Kedavra and Crucio. But no matter which House you choose, this dark magic can be used by anyone.

By using the unforgivable curses you can perform evil acts, however this will not make you inherently evil in the eyes of the NPCs of Hogwarts Legacy. Nor will it really affect your progress throughout the game. Since there is no morality meter watching what decisions you make regarding your dialogue or dark magic use. Players can choose to commit good or evil acts with no real repercussions. For that reason, players can automatically be a good Slytherin just by not using the unforgivable curses.
