From hitting infinite combos off walls, rails, police and glass, the world of New Amsterdam is your oyster. With gangs to face, dance moves to show up your crew, and crazy combos to hit, there is so much to do in Bomb Rush Cyberfunk that you may indeed lose track of time. Regardless of if you are here for the story, the tricks, or seeing how much Heat you can get to become the ultimate trouble-maker of New Amsterdam, this is Vincent’s beginner’s guide on how to play Bomb Rush Cyberfunk.
Bomb Rush Cyberfunk – How to Play
In Bomb Rush Cyberfunk, the main gameplay mechanic is for you to freely explore New Amsterdam by yourself, with as little hand-holding as possible. But with very little information provided, you will have to do a lot of trial and error and learn the mechanics of the game as you go on. For those looking to 100% complete the game, you will need to learn the ins-and-outs of reaching difficult graffiti spots, being able to fight off the police, or evade them by completing a costume change. This guide will go into everything you need to know when getting started in Bomb Rush Cyberfunk.

How to Tag Graffiti
A big part of Bomb Rush Cyberfunk is the tagging of graffiti. You will find a ton of old graffiti tagged all over New Amsterdam which needs fresh paint to spruce the city up once again. To tag a new piece of art, go up to the old graffiti and interact. Any graffiti that can be tagged or that you may have missed will emit a golden color to guide you over and indicate that you can spray paint on top of it. A lot of graffiti can be found in areas that are hard to reach, you will need to use different skills obtained throughout the story and perhaps different skates in order to reach those difficult spots. When the tagging screen opens up, you simply need to drag your cursor/analog stick over the yellow dot which will start a tagging sequence where you just need to drag the stick to the next yellow dot to create a symbol that meets in the middle. The artwork will appear afterwards where you can admire your handywork.
How to Change Skates and Costumes
Changing your skates may be relevant to completing a specific story mission or hitting unique combos that compliment that environment you are in better than the default skateboard. To change your skates, simply head back into the Hideout where you and your NPCs reside in between missions and go into the garage. Here you can switch out whatever you are wearing on your feet to something else. You will not have these from the beginning of the game, but you can get more ways of getting around the streets by completing missions and progressing through the story. The game offers skateboards, skates, and BMX which you can obtain through the completion of each Chapter in Bomb Rush Cyberfunk.
For those looking to change their costume, be it for a new look or to escape the feds without getting into a fight, you will need to locate the WCs (restrooms) which can be used as a changing room for Bomb Rush Cyberfunk. This is the official way of changing your costume in-game and can be found in porta potties on every map in the game.
How to Find Taxis and Graffiti
You may have come across Taxi ramps that can be used to beckon Taxis over, acting as the fast-travel method in Bomb Rush Cyberfunk. But if you have found these at the beginning of the game, you will not that they cannot be used. You need to progress to Millennium Square and complete the Taxi Driver mission which will allow you to activate fast-travel points indefinitely. Once this is unlocked all you need to do is head to the Taxi stop and begin dancing to call in a Taxi so that you can travel to any other waypoint in the game that you have previously visited. Each map has their own Taxi spots that you will need to find and interact with for the game to register these as fast-travel points.
Whilst the map provided in Bomb Rush Cyberfunk leaves a little to be desired for gaining your exact whereabouts, it does highlight where objective waypoints are. In order to get this however, each location per chapter has maps that you need to find in order to use the Mini-Nav. Objectives are marked with blue dots on the map whilst others indicate Graffiti locations obtained by beating the gang that resides in that part of town.
Combat Guide to Beating the Fuzz
Tagging the streets and skating past the crowds leaves little to be desired from the conformists. For those who are sticklers for the rules, they will not be a fan of you breaking glass, destroying fire hydrants, and knocking anyone who aren’t rocking Converse or Vans. But the more rebellion you get up to, the harder the feds will come at you. You may have noticed the Heat in the top-left corner of your screen, working exactly like Grand Theft Auto in that the higher Heat you procure, the tougher the enemies are to face. One minute you could be skating through on your blades, the next swarmed by SWAT teams and a enemy helo trying to grab you and put you in chains. But there is a way to fight back.
When you are not on your skates/bicycle, you can easily battle anyone who tries to arrest you by using X/Y/B (Xbox) or Square/Triangle/O (PlayStation) to attack anyone who gets too close. By hitting them consistently, you will launch them in the air and away from you. You know when they are defeated when their body ragdolls away from the scene of the crime. Using A (Xbox) or X (PlayStation) will launch the enemy in the air timed with one of the combat actions which can deal more damage and give you an extra moment to react to any other enemies that may have surrounded you.
