Equipment

Before you can start fishing, you have to make sure you have the right gear. First thing you need is a fishing rod, which you can get from any fishing vendor for a pretty decent price. There are loads of different types of fishing rods, ranging from beginner to pro level. To start off, we suggest getting the Balenos Fishing Rod, which is a great all-around choice for beginners. You can even enhance it with Black Stones to make it even better!

In addition to a fishing rod, you will need bait. The type of bait you use will depend on the fish you are trying to catch. You can buy bait from any fishing vendor, or you can craft it yourself by gathering materials around the world.

Best Locations

Where you fish can totally affect what kind of fish you catch. Check out some of the best fishing spots in Black Desert Online:

  • Velia Beach
  • Heidel Lake
  • Terrmian Beach
  • Splashing Point
  • Kamasylvia Lake

Each spot has its own unique fish species, so be sure to do some research on which fish you want to catch and where you can find them.

Fish Type

Black Desert Online has a ton of fish species, each with their own unique traits. Some fish are worth more than others, so it’s important to know which ones to catch. Some of the most valuable fish in the game are:

  • Coelacanth
  • Tuna
  • Sperm Whale
  • Marlin

There’s also an extremely rare type of fish called Mythic Fish. These fish can be sold for a high price on the marketplace, making them a great way to earn silver.

Bait

Bait is something that you can acquire by getting fishing tokens and trading them in for paste which can be used as bait. What bait essentially does is give you a +2 to the fishing skill, which is negligible. If you’re in a guild you will automatically get a +3 to fishing skill. This buff doesn’t stack with one another.

Events

Black Desert Online frequently holds events that revolve around fishing. These events can provide unique rewards and bonuses, so make sure to keep an eye out for them and use your new knowledge to make a ton of silver and exp!

Obsessed with grinding, always playing some game you've never heard of. I am a huge MMORPG, Gacha and farming simulator fan. If I'm not grinding something in one of the many games I play (Final Fantasy XIV, World of Warcraft, Runescape, Epic Seven etc) I can be found working on my novel, reading, watching anime or hanging out with my three dogs.
