Veteran: Sharpshooter

The Veteran Sharpshooters make up the main military of the Astra Militarum and will provide the main ranged power of the strike team. Your priorities will be far-off targets, and any strong beasts that enter the fray.

Veterans are not the strongest or the toughest, but what they lack in durability and power, they make up for in precision and range. All a veteran needs is a clear line of sight and a target. Naturally having extra ammo reserves and doing more damage to weak spots, the veteran gets rewarded for precise and sustained shooting.

The ability, Volley Fire, allows the player even more ranged damage and automatically targets elite enemies. So, if any beast of Nurgle comes running rampant, the veteran can stand back and unleash rounds upon rounds into its failing flesh.

Just try not to get too close, no matter how tempting and sometimes unavoidable that is. Playing the veteran means you will stand back and mow down the ranks, or snipe the beast before it becomes a problem. In those instances, the veterans save a lot of trouble, and may end up saving many of the strike team.

Zealot: Preacher

The Zealot is truly a force to be reckoned with. On the front lines, these guys will rapture like there’s no tomorrow. And there very well might not be.

Zealots are highly powerful operatives that have fast melee swings, and seem to prolong their date with death. A huge asset on the front lines, these guys can take some punishment, and will deal it right back. Their ability, Chastise the Wicked, allows them to leap forwards towards an enemy and deal more damage, whilst replenishing all of its toughness.

Additionally, as they lose health, they gain damage as well as becoming invulnerable instead of dying once per 90 seconds. With these abilities, the Zealot will outstay their welcome as they thrash foes to death. In low health, they get even stronger, and their ability will keep their toughness up far longer than it should do.

Every team will benefit hugely from having at least one Zealot, as their prowess on the battlefield will really cut into those hordes as the other players complete the objective, or take down a more pressing opponent.

Competent on their own and in a group, the Zealot will make light work of the heretics, and can spear-head their team to victory. Just don’t let them get too overwhelmed.

Psyker: Psykinetic

Psykers make an interesting addition to the strike team. Able to manipulate the warp to perform abilities, the Psykers are a delicate class that requires skill and practice to master. High damage skills will assist the team, but so long as the Psyker is protected.

Using warp abilities, the Psyker can pop the heads of foes from a far distance, in most cases killing them instantly. They can also charge up their melee weapon, launch projectiles, and overall slaughter the enemy with highly powerful skills. However, each use of these abilities increases the Psyker’s peril, which if raised to 100%, will kill them, so you must be careful.

Cautious and delicate use of the abilities will mean that the Psyker can remain alive to punish the heretical forces. You must stay close to your allies, else you will get overrun. Thankfully, however, you won’t be depending on the abilities as your melee and primary weapons are good enough to fell foes.

The Psyker’s ability, Psykinetic’s Wrath, pushes enemies forward in a large radius, damaging them and cleansing your peril, allowing you to go immediately back to the slaughter.

The Psyker is not an essential part of the team, however a skilled Psyker will make any mission lighter work and may end up pushing the tide of battle in the team’s favour.

Ogryn: Skullbreaker

Playing as the Ogryn is truly an experience that is unrivalled. Just know that with great strength, comes great responsibility to your team.

Ogryns take up the mantle of ‘tank’, the tough, close-range meatbag that uses its strength and size to topple opponents and take damage. Their Bull Rush ability allows them to charge forwards, toppling down smaller enemies and stunning larger enemies, to clear the way and reduce a horde to skittles.

Wighest health and toughness, Ogryns are expected to charge into the front lines, swatting aside the smaller enemies like flies and going toe-to-toe with the larger ones. Their weapons also allow for this play style. Their melee weapons are great for beating down opponents, and their guns will blast holes through the Chaos forces.

The durability and the strength of the Ogryn make them incredibly fun to play, and a very vital aspect to every strike team. Going on a mission without one is perilous due to their ability to soak up a lot of damage and clear aside those huge, insurmountable hordes. This role comes with responsibility, but it is a great experience that fills you with power.
