There are four main types of mercenaries in Arcadian Atlas: Cavalier, Warmancer, Ranger, and Apothecary. Having a well-rounded team made up of each of these mercenary types is great and all, but knowing exactly how to place them is essential if you want to succeed.

- Tanks – Cavaliers: As in most combat-based RPGs, it’s best to have tanks stationed at the front of your team. Tanks have the highest defense and health stats out of all of the other warriors, making them the perfect shields for your squishier characters, like healers and archers. Any mercenaries in the Cavalier class should fall under the “tank” category in Arcadian Atlas.
- Archers – Rangers and Warmancers: Ranged attackers such as Warmancers and Archers should be stationed at the back or sides of your team. They have high attack and speed stats, but their defense stats leave something to be desired, so it’s best to keep them out of the line of enemy fire while also giving them room to attack from afar.
