Resident Evil Best Games Ranked

Resident Evil Village

I bet you didn’t think this one would be on the list of the best Resident Evil games. It’s different, that’s for sure, but it’s a good different. We have a stunning antagonist, dark European setting, and crazy mutant villagers. In this Victorian era game you play as Ethan Winters and it’s set three years after Resident Evil 7. Ethan has witnessed his wife murdered by these men who also kidnap his child. It’s up to you to try to guide Ethan through this insane village to find his daughter. The reason we’re putting it on our best list is due to the fact it’s very action-centered in terms of gameplay. It introduces players who don’t like horror but still want to try it out.

The one that started it all. The original Resident Evil makes our list because we have to have this revolutionary title. It helped create future Resident Evil titles and made horror games enjoyable as we tried to survive this world. Just like with modern films going over-the-top with jump scares and unnecessary horror elements, Resident Evil didn’t need those gimmicks. They didn’t have armies of zombies because they believed in savoring the moment. The scaring came later and fans appreciated that.

3DS even got its own version of Resident Evil and fans enjoyed that they could take their scares on the go. This exclusive game took place on a cruise, of all places, and was filled with infected creatures. It was a fun game to play and being on a ship instantly makes this terrifying. You start this game as the main character Jill Valentine who is trying to find Chris’s last known whereabouts. You can customize your gun, kill infected creatures, and play as different characters. It’s one of those games that’s underrated because people simply forgot it existed. If you do get a chance to play, play it!

Resident Evil 7: Biohazard

Biohazard is another great game to the Resident Evil franchise. The game focuses on Ethan Winters and he is on a journey to look for his wife, who was presumably missing and had left him a message. He ventures for Louisiana where he approaches a decrepit house that oozes Texas Chainsaw Massacre vibes. The Baker Family are the main antagonists who are infected with a virus giving them crazy powers such as ability to control bugs, rejuvenation, & crazy strength. It is horrifying walking through this house and once the bad guys find you roaming around they chase after you. As you delve deeper in you unlock secrets and figure out who the main villain is. With great gameplay elements, an eerie atmosphere, and great mechanics this is well-deserved on our list.

Resident Evil 2

Remakes can either be a hit or a miss. In this case, it was a success. Polished graphics and modern mechanics helped to boost this games rating. It released in 2019, and due to the monster designs as well as how realistic it looked, fans were amazed by it. This game takes place two months after Resident Evil and focuses on the community in Raccoon City. People have been turned into zombies, and it’s up to police rookie Leon Kennedy and college student Claire Redfield, to figure out why this city is being attacked with this outbreak. The great part about this game are the two characters have their own campaign so you can see through their eyes and get a different perspective on what’s going on.

Resident Evil 4

The best of the best would have to be Resident Evil 4. This game is still highly praised and is considered one of the best horror games to this time. What makes Resident Evil 4 so great? You play as special agent Leon S. Kennedy who is on a mission to rescue the presidents daughter from a cult in Spain. Did we mention the cult are mind-controlling parasites? Talk about horrifying. Resident Evil 4 has great protagonists, is extremely scary, has an unsettling soundtrack that makes this horror game even more terrifying, and the storyline has plenty of twists and turns to make the player want to keep on playing. There’s tons more we could talk about with this game, but honesty, you should just pick it up and start playing it to understand just how good it is.
