7 Best Hidden Games on Google

Free games galore!

Hidden Google games are free games that are hidden inside the world’s most popular search engine. Many of these games are replicas of old arcade games that many of us grew up on, while others are a bit more modern. All of these games are fun nonetheless, and are a great way to spend an afternoon! You’ll need to go on a bit of a treasure hunt in order to play these hidden games, however.

Google has numerous games programmed right into its search engine, which seems suspiciously convenient, but they’re not as easy to find as you’d think. Use this guide to find and play the best hidden games on Google!

7 Best Hidden Games on Google

Google has multiple hidden games built right into its search engine; all you have to do to play these free games is look! Finding these hidden games is a lot more difficult than it sounds, however, so thankfully, you don’t have to. Here’s a list of all the best hidden games on Google and how to play them:

Chrome Dino

Chrome Dino has to be the most well-known Google game ever, since it’s hidden in plain sight. In this game, you play as a tiny T-Rex that has to run and jump over cacti and pterodactyls, which doesn’t seem too hard at first, until you realize that the cacti and pterodactyls are being hurdled at you faster and faster the further you get into the game! After about five straight minutes of playing, the obstacles will be coming at you so fast you’ll barely be able to see them!

This game becomes accessible whenever you lost access to the internet. If you lose access to the internet and try to load up Google Chrome, you’ll be met with an error message and a little pixelated dinosaur. Just click on the dinosaur or hit your spacebar to start the game. If you don’t want to disconnect from the internet to play it, just copy chrome://dino/ into your address bar and hit “Enter”.

Snake

Snake is another well-known Google game, though it’s not as well known as Chrome Dino. Snake came out decades ago and is a classic arcade game that many people grew up playing, so it’s nice that Google allows you to play it for free. In Snake, you play as a Snake that grows longer every time you eat an apple. This may seem pretty straightforward, but you’re also trapped in a small box, and if you hit the walls of the box (or your own tail) then you lose the game! The goal is to eat as many apples as you can (and subsequently grow as long as possible) before you hit an obstacle.

Playing Snake on Google is a lot easier than many people think. All you have to do to play Snake on Google is type “Play Snake” into your search/address bar and hit “Enter”. The first result should be a minimized version of the game; all you have to do to play it is hit the bright blue “Play” button underneath the image.

Pac Man

Nearly everybody knows about Pac Man, but not many know that you can play it for free on Google. In Pac Man, you play as a hungry little creature (what even is Pac Man, anyway?) that must avoid the evil ghosts and eat all of the dots located around the map. If you get hit by a ghost, you lose! If you successfully avoid all the ghosts, however, and eat up all the dots, you’ll win and get to play the next level.

Playing Pac Man is similar to playing Snake on Google in the sense that you only need to utilize your search bar to play it. To play Pac Man, simply type “Pac Man” into your address/search bar and hit “Enter”. The first result should be a minimized version of the game, with a small “Play” button beneath it. All you need to do to play it is hit the “Play” button.

Text Adventure

This one’s a bit trickier to play than other Google games, and not very many people even know about it. Despite this, Text Adventure is a really cool text-based adventure game that promises hours of free entertainment! Text Adventure is a text-based RPG similar to D&D that allows you to explore an in-depth narrative-driven world created by Google’s development team. You get to make your own choices and decide how the story ends!

Text Adventure isn’t as easy to access as Google’s Snake game or Chrome Dino, but it’s not too difficult once you’ve got it figured out. To play this game, type “Text Adventure” into your search/address bar and hit “Enter”. Then, right-click on your current browser tab and press “ctrl+shift+J” on your keyboard. Once the console terminal pops up, type “yes” into the textbox and then hit “Enter” to begin playing.

Tic Tac Toe

Everybody loves Tic Tac Toe! If you’re always in the mood to get down on some Tic Tac Toe but never have anyone to play it with, then you’ll be ecstatic to know that you can play it on Google with an AI! All you have to do to beat the AI is get three of your shapes in a straight line before it does; this may seem easy, but the AI is smarter and faster than you think, so always think ahead before you make a move.

Playing Tic Tac Toe on Google is easy. All you have to do to play this hidden Google game is type “Tic Tac Toe” in your address/search bar and hit “Enter”. The first search result should be a minimized version of the game’s layout; all you have to do is pick whether you want to be Xs or Os to begin playing. It even lets you pick between three different difficulty settings!

Solitaire

Solitaire is another very well-known Google game, similar to Chrome Dino (in popularity, not gameplay). Solitaire is a classic card game that most people are familiar with; it’s a simple game that’s meant to be played solo (hence the name “solitaire”). Playing Solitaire is a great way to pass the time, especially if you’re on-the-go. Thankfully, since it’s a Google game, you’ll never have to worry about bringing a deck of cards to boring events ever again!

Similar to Pac Man and Tic Tac Toe, all you have to do to play Google’s Solitaire is type “Solitaire” into your search/address bar and hit “Enter”. The first search result should be a minimized version of the game, all you need to do to start playing is hit the “Play” button directly beneath the game’s minimized cover image. Once you hit “Play”, you’ll be allowed you to pick your preferred difficulty setting (Easy or Hard) before the game begins.

Quick, Draw!

Quick Draw is a relatively new and unique Google game that not many people are yet familiar with. This game came out in 2021 and is designed to help further the research behind machine learning. In Quick Draw, you will be instructed to doodle a specific object within a handful of seconds. Once your doodle is done, an AI will attempt to guess what the object is based on your sketch. It’s by no means an exciting game, but it is intensely intriguing to see how artificial intelligence makes guesses based on available data.

Quick Draw is incredibly easy to figure out how to play on Google. All you need to do to play Quick Draw is type “Quick, Draw!” into your address/search bar and hit “Enter”. The first search result should be a link that takes you to the game’s webpage (the link will literally be titled “Quick, Draw!”). Click on the link and then click the “Let’s Draw!” button on the game’s webpage to begin playing.

You might think that the coolest thing about these games is the fact that they’re free, and you’d partially be right! However, the actual coolest thing about these games is that they’re all unblocked on school/work devices! Trying to sneakily play games at school or work is hard when most websites are blocked on your school/work-regulated devices, but Google is almost never blocked because it’s such a standard search engine.
