The top three defenses in Madden 22.

With football constantly evolving through stout quarterback play and high-scoring offenses, the need for superstars on this side of the ball is vital. Whether it be Patrick Mahomes with the Chiefs, Josh Allen with the Bills, or Derrick Henry with the Titans, having playmakers who can instantly put up points is paramount to winning football games in the modern era.

A high-powered offense can help you win football games, but everybody knows that defense is what’s going to win you championships. Being aware of the best defenses in Madden 22 will make you well-equipped to demolish the competition throughout the season. Here are some of the best defenses in Madden 22.

Best Defense in Madden 22

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (90 OVR)

When most people think of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, they tend to focus on offensive superstars like Tom Brady, Rob Gronkowski, Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, and Leonard Fournette. Although, their defense is just as (if not more) talented across the board. Starting with their massive group of pass rushers, they have Vita Vea (93) at DT, Lavonte David (91) at MLB, Shaquil Barrett (89) at LOLB, Devin White (84) at MLB, and Ndamukong Suh (82) at RE.

They carry some of the more talented defensive backs in the league as well, including Antoine Winfield Jr (84) at FS, Jordan Whitehead (78) at SS, as well as Carlton Davis III (83), Jamel Dean (82), and Sean Murphy-Bunting (79) at CB. Altogether, they form the most devastating unit in the entire NFL.

Pittsburgh Steelers (88 OVR)

Anybody who follows football is more than aware of how strong the Steelers’ defense is. In fact, if it wasn’t for Pittsburgh’s playmakers on that side of the ball, the team wouldn’t have finished anywhere close to their 9-7-1 record in 2021 and certainly wouldn’t have made the playoffs.

The group is headlined by a deadly front seven, including the NFL’s Defensive Player of the Year, T.J. Watt (96) at LOLB, Cameron Heyward (94) at RE, Stephon Tuitt (86) at LE, and Tyson Alualu (82) at DT. The backfield is also stacked with talents such as Minkah Fitzpatrick (89) at FS, Joe Haden (79) at CB, and Terrell Edmunds (78) at SS, easily making this one of the strongest lineups in the league.

Chicago Bears (87 OVR)

The Chicago Bears are coming off a disappointing season after finishing 6-11 on the year. They were towards the bottom of the league in terms of scoring and offensive efficiency. It’s in no way because of their defense, though, as they’re one of the best position groups in the entire NFL and Madden 22.

First and foremost, they have an incredibly powerful group upfront, including Khalil Mack (94) at LOLB, Roquan Smith (89) at MLB, Akiem Hicks (87) at LE, and Robert Quinn (84) at ROLB. As well as a ton of talent in the backfield with Eddie Jackson (87) at FS, Tashaun Gipson Sr. (77) at SS, and Jaylon Johnson (82) at CB. Not to mention loads of depth players, all ranging in the mid-high 70s. So, it’s certainly not a defense to sleep on in Madden 22.
