Lake Foscari is a place ridden with a vile manner of creatures and creepy-crawlies. The first location in the latest Vampire Survivors DLC Tide of Foscari, players will be introduced to a new manner of monster. One of these enemies however, comes in the form of a silly little caterpillar. Its name is Sammy and you can obtain your very own as a character. While the steps to unlocking Sammy are a bit tedious, you’ll make it all back once you unlock them. This cylindrical creature comes equipped with minimal base stats, but the passive bonuses it gains over time can produce massive amounts of gold. Let’s slide along the floor and take a look at the best build for Sammy in Vampire Survivors.
Best Build for Sammy in Vampire Survivors
If you’re reading this guide, chances are you already unlocked Sammy. If you haven’t I have bad news for you: you might not be unlocking Sammy today. It can be unlocked by defeating 6,000 Sammy the Caterpillars in Lake Foscari. And unfortunately, our friend Sammy doesn’t move in herds. There are very few select areas around the lake for players to attempt and topple this objective. After you have done so and have hopefully accumulated a decent amount of gold, you can purchase Sammy for at least 50,000 gold (scaling with other characters purchased). However, if you have the Forbidden Scrolls of Morbane, you can cast the spell “happybirthday” to unlock Sammy instantly.

Sammy starts out with a +2 recovery and a temporary -60% might. Now while that might seem like a horrible set of base stats, our caterpillar friend brings some of the best passive bonuses of any character. We say temporary reduction of might, because it gains +10% might at levels 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, and 21. Along with its starting weapon Viscous Hunger, Sammy gains XP every time they pick up gold coins or bags. Combining this with weapons such as Millionaire, Santa Water, Prismatic Missile, and Eskizzibur can provide massive AOE damage areas. For items, ones such as Stone Mask and Crown will help provide bonus coins and XP. Fill the rest of your item slots with AOE and damage buff like Spinach and Candelabrador. Be sure to throw in an Empty Tome, Duplicator, and Armor to smooth the edges and you’re ready.
