All Water Stone Evolution Pokémon in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is here with its initial release date of November 18th, 2022. The return of Pokémon means the return of Gym Battles in an Arceus setting of an open-world adventurous experience. With 100+ new Pokémon added as Generation 9 is finally here, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet sees the return of Evolution Stones. Players now have the option once more to either level up their Pokémon or scour the wilderness of the Paldea region looking for those previous Stones. Build up that team, find those Stones and evolve those unique Pokémon. But which Pokémon can you evolve with the Water Stone in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet?

What is a Water Stone?

Water Stones are just one of the many Evolution Stones in Pokémon. Used on a specific set of Pokémon, using the stone is the required criteria to evolve them. Instead of players levelling up their Pokémon via manual battles or using the shared EXP mechanic. Players need to obtain the Evolution Stone corresponding the Pokémon Type to evolve. The Evolution Stones available in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are:

Where to Find the Water Stone in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

Firstly, the Water Stone is purchasable in the stores of the main Paldea cities:

  • West Province City, Cascarrafa
  • East Province City, Levincia
  • South Province City, Mesagoza

The price of these stones is 3,000 Pokémon Dollars. Because of this price, searching for the Water Stones in the wilderness of Paldea is more desirable. Therefore, here are the locations for obtaining Water Stones in Scarlet and Violet:

  • Outside the City Cascarrafa
  • South Province (Area Six)

Water Stone Pokémon List

When the player has gathered the stones, through exploration or purchase in the cities listed above. The player can then use the stone on the Pokémon which requires the Water Stone for evolution. In Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, these are:

  • Eevee into Vaporeon
  • Shellder into Cloyster

Where to Find Eevee

Eevee is the most common Pokémon appearing in the Stone Evolution list. This Pokémon is able to evolve into eight variations depending on the stone or requirement such as their happiness value. Eevee is located in multiple provinces in the Paldea region. These are:

  • Pokémon League route
  • West Province (Area Three)
  • South Province (Area Two)

This Pokémon is relatively easy to find, although being stated in the Pokedex as ‘rarely seen’. Eevee can be obtained quite early within the game. Players should check the areas mentioned above and in the yellow spots shown in the screenshot below. In these areas Eevee may not initially appear. Players should repeatedly check by fast travelling to change the spawn chances of seeing Eevee. We recommend players pick up many Eevee to evolve into their various forms.

Where to Find Shellder

Shellder is easier to locate than Eevee. All players need to do here is search the southern border of the Paldea map as Shellder can be found in the surrounding waters. This Pokémon can be found in the provinces:

  • South Province (Area Four)
  • South Province (Area Six)
