While the very first MS-DOS version of The Secret of Monkey Island was completely unvoiced, the games have had full voice acting from the third game onwards. Since then, the developers, no matter which forms they’ve taken, have done their best to reassemble the same motley crew of voice talents for each subsequent game, and Return to Monkey Island is no different. Here are all of the voice actors in Return to Monkey Island.
All Voice Actors in Return to Monkey Island: Voice Cast Revealed
The main cast of Return to Monkey Island includes the following voice actors:
- Guybrush Threepwood: Dominic Armato
- Elaine Marley-Threepwood: Alexandra Boyd
- The Dread Pirate LeChuck: Jess Harnell
- The Voodoo Lady: Leilani Jones
- Stan S. Stanman: Gavin Hammon
- Wally B. Feed: Neil Ross
- Murray, the Demonic Talking Skull: Denny Delk
Guybrush Threepwood: Dominic Armato
Our hero, as always, is the mighty pirate Guybrush Threepwood. He’s one of the most renowned swashbucklers in the Caribbean, which would be really surprising if you knew him since he’s a huge (albeit lovable) dork.
Guybrush is played by Dominic Armato. Armato has been portraying the hapless pirate since his very first voiced appearance in The Curse of Monkey Island and is always happy to return to the role when he’s called upon. He’s mostly stepped away from the acting scene lately, but you may remember him in some incidental roles in cartoons like Rocket Power and Aaah! Real Monsters.
Elaine-Marley Threepwood: Alexandra Boyd
Guybrush’s loving, if not rather put-upon wife. Originally the governor of Melee Island, she became quite the pirate herself by Guybrush’s side, debatably an even better one despite his greater reputation.
Elaine is played by Alexandra Boyd. Much like Guybrush and Armato, Boyd has played Elaine in all of her appearances, save for Escape from Monkey Island. She’s also been out of the spotlight for a while, though she did have an ongoing role in the BBC’s Doctors from 2008-2012.
The Dread Pirate LeChuck: Jess Harnell
Scourge of the seven seas, LeChuck is one of the most feared and reviled sailors in the Caribbean, if not the world. He’s always looking to exploit ancient secrets to gain power, resulting in his multitude of strange appearances including a ghost, a zombie, a demon, and a giant walrus.
LeChuck is played by Jess Harnell. LeChuck’s original voice actor, Earl Boen, retired back in 2017, so Harnell stepped up to fill the pirate’s soggy shoes. Harnell is a highly decorated voice actor with roles in a multitude of games and series. One of his coolest roles is as Wakko Warner in Animaniacs.
The Voodoo Lady: Leilani Jones
Owner and proprietor of a chain of voodoo and curio shops throughout the Caribbean, the mysterious Voodoo Lady has been a longtime ally of Guybrush on all of his adventures. She’s always willing to contribute a hex or two, though her motives are unclear at best.
The Voodoo Lady is played by Leilani Jones. Jones has portrayed the Voodoo Lady in every Monkey Island game save for Tales of Monkey Island. She took some time off from voice work between 2000 and 2010, but she’s been getting back in the game recently with a regular role in Pacific Rim: The Black.
Stan S. Stanman: Gavin Hammon
The fast-talkin’, money-grubbing, salesman stereotype for the ages. Stan is another Monkey Island mainstay, though he never bothers to remember Guybrush’s name or face. All he cares about are ways to make a quick buck, no matter how shady.
Stan is played by Gavin Hammon. Hammon previously played Stan in Tales of Monkey Island and brings that same palpable energy to his performance this time around. He’s appeared in lots of other games in both major and incidental roles, with recent appearances including Triangle Strategy and Lost Ark.

Wally B. Feed: Neil Ross
A humble cartographer from Scabb Island, Wally has a nasty habit of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. When he’s not making maps, he often finds himself forcefully kidnapped and conscripted into LeChuck’s undead army. The developers have made a game of picking on him over the years, and it’s pretty funny.
Wally is played by Neil Ross. Ross is another Monkey Island veteran, having played Wally in all of his appearances. He’s another regular face in both the video game and animation spheres, having regular roles in the Kung-Fu Panda series and The Garfield Show.
Murray, the Demonic Talking Skull: Denny Delk
Originally a member of LeChuck’s first undead army, Murray ended up on the wrong side of a cannon and had his skeletal head blown off. Since then, he’s washed ashore in all sorts of strange places, constantly rambling about his horrifying demonic might and his dream to conquer the world. He’s just adorable, really.
Murray is played by Denny Delk. As you’ve probably come to expect by now, Delk plays Murray in every single Monkey Island game, as no one else could do the character justice. Delk was a recurring face in the old LucasArts adventure games, appearing as Hoagie in Day of the Tentacle and the Kushman Brothers in Sam and Max Hit the Road, just to give a couple of examples.
Besides just being a fun and funny game with likable characters, Return to Monkey Island features a cast of veteran voice actors who have been hanging around the industry since before some of you were born. That’s a quality pedigree, right there.
