We’ve uncovered all of the hidden locations to the standing stones in Skyrim: Elder Scrolls V!

Regardless of whether you’re a Breton of High Rock, a Khajiit of Elsewyr, or a Nord of Skyrim. It’s essential that you find ways to enhance your character’s abilities. One of the best ways to do this is through activating the various Standing Stones in Skyrim: Elder Scrolls V. Which are spread out across the map and can be used to boost specific attributes.

All Standing Stone Locations and Effects in Skyrim: Elder Scrolls V

It’s no secret that Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim has one of the largest maps of any game. In fact, there are players still trying to uncover all of the hidden regions to this day. As a result, there are a total of 13 Standing Stones spread out across the map. Each of which will come with a different effect that (when activated) can enhance a specific ability for your character.

Here are all of the locations for the Standing Stones as well as their effects.

The Guardian Stones

When you initially set out on your journey in Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. You will come across the first three Standing Stones shortly after you escape from Helgen. Once you are just outside of Riverwood, your companion (either Ralof or Hadvar) will lead you right past three different stones huddled together. You will then have to pick one of the three, depending on which skill you value most. Here are the three stones and their effects.

  1. The Mage Stone – The Mage Stone will grant you 20% faster increase to all magic skills.
  2. The Thief Stone – The Thief Stone will grant you 20% faster increase to all stealth skills.
  3. The Warrior Stone – The Warrior Stone will grant you 20% faster increase to all combat skills.

The Ritual Stone

The Ritual Stone is east of Whiterun next to the road to Windhelm right before the Valtheim Towers. Follow the path until you find a stone arch with a set of log stairs leading up a small hill. The Ritual Stone will be guarded by a Novice Necromancer, and two skeletons. Activating it will allow you to reanimate all corpses within a large radius, enabling them to fight with you for 200 seconds once a day.

The Shadow Stone

The Shadow Stone is located atop the hill near Snow-Shod Farms and Nightingale Hall just south of Riften. Activating this Standing Stone will give you the power of invisibility for 60 seconds once a day.

The Lover Stone 

The Lover Stone is near the Kolskeggr Mine in the Reach, and up the mountain east of Markarth. The Lover Stone will be standing at the edge of a cliff. Activating this Standing Stone will increase all of your skills 15% faster.

The Atronach Stone

The Atronach Stone can be found just east of Darkwater crossing into Eastmarch. You will find the Atronach Stone overlooking the valley in the volcanic wasteland between Windhelm and Riften. Activating this Standing Stone will not only give you an extra 50 points in Magicka but it will also provide you with 50% spell absorption. However, activating it will also decrease your Magicka regeneration by 50%.

The Lady Stone

The Lady Stone is west of the Guardian Stones (located outside of Riverwood). It will be sitting on a small island near the west shore of Lake Illinata. Activating the Lady Stone will increase your health and stamina regeneration by 25%.

The Lord Stone

The Lord Stone is southwest of Frostmere Crypt in the hold of Hjaalmarch east of Morthal. Atop of the mountain northeast of the shrine of Mehrunes Dagon, you will find the Lord Stone sitting at the edge of the cliff. In front of the Standing Stone will be a few bandits sitting in front of the campfire (which you will have to wipe out first). Activating the Lord Stone will give you a 50-point boost in damage resistance and a 25% increase to magic resistance.

The Apprentice Stone 

The Apprentice Stone is north of Fort Snowhawk in the hold of Hjaalmarch. The stone will be sitting southwest of the marshes. Activating the Apprentice Stone will increase your Magicka regeneration by 100%. However, while you will be able to recover Magicka twice as fast, you will also take on twice as much magic damage in every fight.

The Serpent Stone 

The Serpent Stone is just off the coast of the College of Winterhold. The Standing Stone will be sitting on top of a floating iceberg northeast of the Wreck of the Pride of Tel Vos. Activating the Serpent Stone will allow you to paralyze your enemy for five seconds and deal 25 points of health damage once a day.

The Tower Stone

The Tower Stone is west of the College of Winterhold. You will need to follow the coastline until you reach the entrance of Hob’s Fall Cave. The Standing Stone will be sitting on the edge of the peninsula. Activating the Tower Stone will grand users with the ability to unlock any expert level lock (or lower) once per day.

The Steed Stone 

Lastly, there’s the Steed Stone. Which can be found by heading due north of the statue of Meridian in the province of Haafingar. The Standing Stone will be along the northernmost edge of the map near Ironback Hideout and Ravenscar Hollow. Activating the Steed Stone will grant you with an additional 100 carrying capacity. Also, any equipped armor will become weightless.
