One of my favorite childhood pastimes was activating debug mode on Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and completely breaking the game with random object spawns. It was a very chaotic kind of fun that you don’t get in platformers nowadays. Luckily, the remasters of the classic Sonic games in Sonic origins let you get back to that wackiness. Here’s a list of all Sonic Origins cheat codes.
All Sonic Origins Cheat Codes
A quick clarification before we get started: only Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, and Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles have cheat codes. There are no codes available to use in Sonic CD.
In all three games, cheating works the same way. On the game’s title screen, you input a particular sequence of button presses to reach the Level Select menu, then play a combination of sounds/songs in the Sound Test to trigger additional functions. When you enter a Sound Test code, you’ll hear a little confirmation noise. After that, just pick a stage, and you’re off!
Sonic the Hedgehog Cheats
- Level Select: Up, Down, Left, Right, A
- All Chaos Emeralds: Sound Test 04, 01, 02, 06
- Debug Mode: Sound Test 01, 09, 09, 01, 00, 06, 02, 03
Sonic the Hedgehog 2 Cheats
- Level Select: Up, Up, Up, Down, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, A
- All Chaos Emeralds: Sound Test 04, 01, 02, 06
- Debug Mode: Sound Test 01, 09, 09, 02, 01, 01, 02, 04
Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles Cheats
- Level Select: Up, Up, Down, Down, Up, Up, Up, Up (the Level Select option will appear under the Competition option)
- All Chaos Emeralds: Sound Test 04, 01, 02, 06 (enter the code twice for Super Emeralds)
- Debug Mode: Sound Test 01, 09, 09, 04, 01, 00, 01, 08
Surprisingly, activating cheats in any of these games will not disable Trophies/Achievements, so feel free to cheat to your heart’s content!
