I’ve never tried to crack a safe myself, unless you count my cousin’s piggybank when I was 9. I’d imagine the kind of safes that soldiers would crack in the midst of a warzone would be much more complicated and rewarding than two dollars in pennies. If you’re in the mood for some safe-cracking, then here are all the safe codes in Modern Warfare 2.
All Safe Codes in Modern Warfare 2
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2’s campaign features a small handful of locked safes across two of its missions. One safe can be found in the mission El Sin Nombre, while the other two safes can be found in the mission Alone. Despite my choice of words, you can’t brute-force these safes; the only way to open them is to use the correct code. Successfully opening a safe will reward you with some nifty items, and if you open all three, you’ll also receive the Gentleman Thief achievement.

The safes can be found in the following locations in their respective missions:
- In El Sin Nombre, look for the safe in Diego’s bedroom on the second floor. It’s in the closet near his bed. The code is the date on the large portrait in the room.
- In Alone, after you open a door and see a dying guy, walk forward into the coffee shop, then take a left to find a locked room. Pry the door open with a Pry Tool, and the safe will be on the floor. The code is on the calendar in the room.
- Later in Alone, find the mechanic garage with white cars in it next to the restaurant. The safe is on the floor of the garage’s small office, and the code is on the mechanic’s computer.
Cracking the Code
If you don’t feel like going out of your way to find the codes, then here are the codes, as well as the rewards, for all three safes:
- 02-02-19, contains a Plate Carrier and a Lockwood 300
- 10-10-80, contains a Throwing Knife and a .980 handgun
- 37-60-80, contains a Throwing Knife and a Crossbow
Opening the safes isn’t mission-critical, but they’re also pretty easy to find and crack, so there’s no real reason not to. It’s kind of inherently satisfying to open a little door and find a bunch of valuable stuff, you know?
