What are Moon Stones?
Moon Stones are one of the Evolution Stones in the Pokémon Franchise. Giving players multiple processes when completing the Pokédex. Aside from the core gameplay mechanic of capturing, using and levelling-up the Pokémon that Trainers find, there are other methods of evolutions. One of the processes is Evolution Stones. These evolve a specific set of Pokémon into its stronger form. Some have multiple processes to evolve, such as in this guide: the Igglybuff evolution line.
The Evolution Stones in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are:
Where to Find Moon Stone in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet
Most of the Evolutionary Stones must be found within the Paldea regions. Some located around civilization, others can be found in random nature spots. Players have no choice but to search the vast open world of Paldea, looking for the evolution stones to evolve specific Pokemon in order to complete that Pokédex. The Moon Stone can be found in the Paldea provinces:
- West Province (Area Two), The Porto Marinada
- South Province (Area Three)

Moon Stone Pokémon List
The only Pokémon that can be evolved using the Moon Stone is Jigglypuff into Wigglytuff. There are two methods to evolving this evolution line which starts with Igglybuff. Players can either start by catching an Igglybuff and levelling-up with a high friendship stat to evolve or can skip ahead and catch a wild Jigglypuff. Either route the player decides to go down will increase the number of Pokémon added to the Pokédex. For players wanting to complete the Pokédex in full, they should start with finding Igglybuff. Although, this is a tougher task than getting Jigglypuff.
Where to Find the Moon Stone Pokémon: Igglybuff and Jigglypuff
Igglybuff
This Pokémon is often seen near towns as suggested by the Pokédex. Players can find Igglybuff in the Southern Province, Area One and Two. We suggest that players keep fast travelling in between the nearby towns and cities of the Southern Provinces to increase the chances of a Igglybuff appearing. This Pokémon is quite rare so players should keep searching the area and repeat the respawning process to increase your chances of seeing a Igglybuff.
We recommend searching the outskirts of Los Platos of South Province Area One. As shown in the screenshot below (the black circle), Igglybuff can be found in this location, to the right of Los Platos.
Jigglypuff
Just like Igglybuff, Jigglypuff is located near towns and cities. Players can locate this Pokémon in the South Province (Area Two) and West Province (Area Three). Jigglypuff is easier to locate than Igglybuff, therefore players may want to find Jigglypuff first instead of Igglybuff. That way, you can evolve Jigglypuff immediately with the Moon Stone to get Wigglytuff.
That is the Pokémon you can evolve using the Moon Stone. The process to doing so is longer than other evolution lines but Wigglytuff is a great Normal/Fairy-Type Pokémon. For those looking to complete this line, we recommend searching for Igglybuff, achieving that high friendship and later using the Moon Stone on Jigglypuff to evolve into Wigglytuff.
