You can't do it alone!

Wandering Sword is a Chinese martial arts RPG that invites players to embark on journeys of epic proportions through richly crafted fantasy worlds. Other than the obvious, one of the game’s most intriguing features is the number of companions you can recruit to join you on your quest.

These companions bring their unique abilities, personalities, and stories to the adventure, enriching your journey on your quest to become the greatest martial artist in the world. In this article, we’ll introduce you to all the encounterable companions in Wandering Sword, offering insights into their backgrounds and the benefits they bring to your party.

Full Companion List in Wandering Sword

In Wandering Sword, the companions you encounter on your journey are more than just allies; they are integral to the game’s immersive storyline and strategic gameplay. Each companion brings a unique set of skills, personalities, and backgrounds that add depth and complexity to the game’s world.

Currently, there are 14 recruitable companions in Wandering Sword. You’ll know that an NPC is recruitable because, when you interact with them, they’ll have a little red tiger next to their name.

Here are the names and locations of all 14 companions in Wandering Sword:

Depending on the companions that you choose to recruit and when, you could experience an entirely different playthrough, leading to an entirely different ending. You won’t be able to recruit them all in one playthrough, but that just gives you more reason to play the game again!

How to Recruit Companions in Wandering Sword?

Recruiting companions is one of the most entertaining features of the game, but that doesn’t mean it’s always easy to do.

Every one of the 14 companions in Wandering Sword has different, specific requirements that need to be met before they can be recruited. However, there are also a few basic prerequisite requirements that all companions will need to be fulfilled as well.

Besides their specific requirements, all companions will first need to have interacted with the player prior to their recruitment (obviously). Additionally, players will need to have reached a minimum of 60 Affinity with them.

This can be done by completing quests for them and giving them gifts. Once you’ve reached at least 60 Affinity with a recruitable character and have completed all of their other recruitment requirements, you’ll be able to invite them to join you on your journey!

Can You Romance Companions in Wandering Sword?

With so many gorgeous martial artists at your disposal, it’s no wonder why so many people want to jump their bones in Wandering Sword. However, fans of the game may not like the answer to whether or not romance is possible in this game.

Here’s the thing: you can romance the companions in Wandering Sword, but only sort of.

Only a handful of the companions are romanceable, and the developers were very firm in their decision to make sure that none of them were the same gender as the protagonist.

This is only made worse by the fact that players are not allowed to choose the gender of their character in the game, and are forced to play the entire game as male.

So essentially, if you’re not a straight man, you’re out of luck for romantic partners in Wandering Sword. Frankly, it really speaks volumes of who the developers believe should be playing their game, and who should not.

Due to the game still being very much in the early stages of its release, it’s not entirely clear who the romanceable companions are, or even how many there are yet. Regardless, it seems silly to even add options for romance to this game at all, considering how to developers decided to go about it.

While your thirst may not be quenched by the romance options (or lack thereof) in Wandering Sword, there are still plenty of other similar games whose romance does not disappoint. If you’re looking to spice up your night with some romantic gameplay, then you’ve come to the right website!
