Age of Empires II has made its way to Xbox and Cloud thanks to Gamepass. With this, it gives a chance for more players than ever to experience the Real Time Strategy favorite. However, PC still offers a couple of advantages that may make it better for some than the Xbox or Cloud version. One of these is the option to enhance your graphics. But, it’s not just an option you turn on and you suddenly have a sharper image. There are a couple things you need to know before you dive in.
How to Enable the Enhanced Graphics Pack in Age of Empires II
You’ll need to make your way to either the Microsoft or Steam store in order to enable the option. The reason for this is that you need to find the “Enhanced Graphics Pack” DLC. The DLC is free so no need to whip out a card to get it. Make sure your system can handle it, otherwise there’s no real point and getting the pack.
Minimum Requirements
- Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
- OS: Windows 10 64bit
- Processor: 2.4 Ghz i5 or greater or AMD equivalent
- Memory: 8 GB RAM
- Graphics: Nvidia® GTX 650 or AMD HD 5850 or better
- DirectX: Version 11
- Storage: 30 GB available space
Once you’ve downloaded and installed it, open up Age of Empires and head into the settings of your game. You’ll click options and then go to the graphics tab. If you don’t have the advanced options clicked, click it now. If you’ve installed the pack, you’ll see the option to check or unchecked Enhanced Graphics (UHD). If you still don’t see it, you need to close and re-open the game.
