What Platforms is Empires of the Undergrowth on?

Empires of the Undergrowth is currently only available on PC, being sold on four platforms: Steam, GoG, Itch.io, and Epic Games. This game is pretty big already, and it’s only going to get bigger, so it would be a serious mission to get the game on console, especially considering there are only three developers.

So for those lucky PC players, will they be able to play online with each other?

Is Empires of the Undergrowth Multiplayer?

Unfortunately, Empires of the Undergrowth is not multiplayer, as directly answered by one of the developers in a Steam community post:

We would love to but we want to focus on having a solid single player experience first. We are not counting multiplayer out but we are not promising it either.” – Slug Disco

Unfortunately, it also seems that it may never be multiplayer, as one of the full-time developers on the game officially stated that multiplayer is not something they will implement into the game with how it currently runs on a YouTube stream post fire ant update.

Multiplayer is not viable for the game, and it is not on the cards for future potential development. But with the game to be released after tier 5, their next update, the team will still look for ways to improve and update the game. In the years to come, Slug Disco may backtrack on that comment as engines and softwares develop, potentially making it possible in the future.

A multiplayer Empires of the Undergrowth will most likely be a freeplay experience, but with real players instead of AI. Being real-time, all players would need a sturdy internet connection and would need to put aside a considerable amount of time to complete the game.
