I don’t care much for ants, but I can admit that the little jerks are quite industrious. Give ’em a place to set up a colony, and soon they’ll have a shining model of efficiency running ’round the clock. Of course, the first step to that model of efficiency is having enough ants to run everything. Here’s how to increase max population in Empires of the Undergrowth.
How to Increase Max Population in Empires of the Undergrowth
When you first start the Formicarium campaign, you’ll only have a queen ant and a handful of worker drones. In order to expand your territory and diversify your operations, you’re gonna need to breed more ants. However, the game can’t just let you do that for free, or you’d spawn a million ants immediately.
To increase your max population in Empires of the Undergrowth, you’ll need to complete the various challenges issued to you over the course of the campaign. As you complete challenges, your population cap will increase, up to the current maximum of 150.
When you complete challenges, you’ll receive spaces in your colony that you can dig out and use to place brood tiles for different kinds of ants. Remember, if you’re ever having difficulty clearing a particular challenge, your colony may be overly-skewed toward one kind of ant. You may need to dump some of your worker ants to get more soldier ants and vice versa.
While you can only have up to 150 ants right now, that population cap is expected to increase as the game continues through its early access period. Who knows, maybe someday you’ll be able to terrorize the soil with an endless legion of ants!
