Minecraft is continuously being updated with tons of exciting new mods, realms and servers to keep the seasoned players entertained. However, Survival Mode remains one of the most popular ways to play the game. Altering the layout of the game and limiting what you can and can’t do to reach the end. Each challenge will still come with a main objective. But ultimately the goal is simply to survive with what little resources you are given.
In the following section we’ve included a list of some of the best Minecraft Survival Challenges to date.
Best Minecraft Survival Challenges
Survival challenges are one of the best ways to spice up the game and make things more difficult. Building and maintaining your house or farm can still be fun. But sometimes it’s just more rewarding to restrict what you can do and really put your skills to the test.
Here are the best Minecraft survival challenges right now.
#5 – Skyblock Challenge
The Skyblock challenge puts players on a single floating island with limited materials, and just a few basic necessities. While defeating the Ender Dragon is still possible, the primary objective is to expand the island and live prosperously with what little resources you have. You can download custom maps for Java or purchase them for Bedrock, but players will be judged on how much they can grow the island. Although, keep in mind that spawning items is considered cheating. So, you can only use the items you are given when you start out.
#4 – Lone Biome Challenge
With the lone biome challenge, you will only get to populate a single biome. This presents quite the challenge since there are pros and cons to every biome in Minecraft. So, limiting yourself to just one single biome means that you will be limiting the amount of resources you can obtain throughout your journey. For example, living in the jungle means that you will have access to lots of wood, greenery and food. However, building and navigating throughout a jungle can be quite difficult. Whereas the plains will provide easy visibility and building, but valuable resources (like wood) might be more hard to come by.
#3 – Oneblock Challenge
Similar to the Skyblock Challenge, the Oneblock Challenge tasks players with spawning above the void. However, this time you will only have one block to work with. Meaning that the only way for you to progress in the game is by mining whatever you can from that single block. Since the single block will respawn infinitely, players are at the mercy of whatever the blocks turns into to gain materials. The good news is that as you continue to mine the block, the materials you receive will improve (as will the difficulty). Spawning new mobs, and completing various phases leading up to the epic battle with the Ender Dragon. Unfortunately, no servers offer this challenge, so, you will need to download the custom map by IJAMinecraft for the Java edition.
#2 – Vagabond Challenge
To be a vagabond means to live with little means of support while moving around from place to place. So, this challenge tasks you with never living in any structure that you build and never storing any items in chests. Rather, you must only carry whatever you can store in your inventory and never stay in one place for a long period of time. Always being on the move means that you’ll get to experience more adventure and exploration while seeing the world. However, it also means that you won’t have any structure or many items to your name.
#1 – Vegan Challenge
Note this is not the vegetarian challenge, but rather the vegan challenge. Meaning not only must you consume strictly fruits and vegetables. But you also can’t use any products or materials that are derived from animals. So, this basically leaves you with just enchantments to use to get to the end. It can still be done but it’s certainly one of the more difficult survival challenges in Minecraft.
That completes our list of the best Minecraft survival challenges. If you found this information useful, be sure to check out our guides section for more breakdowns of other popular gaming titles.
