Scyther is a Pokémon that didn’t get much love past the first couple of generations of the series. It got an evolved form, Scizor, in generation II, but not much else past that, which is a shame, because it’s a cool Pokémon. Luckily, the Hisui region of the distant past knows how to show Scyther a little more respect. Or, rather, it knows how to show its new evolved form, Kleavor, some respect. Here’s how to evolve Scyther into Kleavor in Pokémon Legends: Arceus.
Kleavor is Scyther’s new evolved form, currently exclusive to this game. As opposed to Scyther’s Bug/Flying typing, Kleavor is a burlier Bug/Rock type. You’ll encounter a Noble Kleavor as the first major boss encounter of the game, but while you can’t have that one, you can evolve a Scyther into a Kleavor of your very own. All you need is the right rock.
How To Evolve Scyther Into Kleavor in Pokémon Legends: Arceus
To evolve Scyther into Kleavor in Pokémon Legends: Arceus:
- Catch a Scyther near Grandtree Arena in the Obsidian Fieldlands
- Find Black Augurite, either dropped by Scyther or dug up by Ursaluna in the Crimson Mirelands
- Use Black Augurite on Scyther to evolve it into Kleavor
The first thing you’ll need, obviously, is a Scyther. Scythers can be found in small groups near the Noble Kleavor’s home in Grandtree Arena, located in the Obsidian Fieldlands. They’re aggressive, so if you can’t sneak up on them, you’ll have to battle them to catch them.
Next, you’ll need a special item, Black Augurite. Black Augurite is a special evolutionary item used exclusively to evolve Scyther into Kleavor. Occasionally, they’ll drop after you defeat or catch a Scyther, so if you’re exceptionally lucky, you might find one immediately after catching your Scyther.
Failing that, the most consistent place to look for Black Augurite is in the game’s second map area, the Crimson Mirelands. You’ll need the assistance of Ursaluna, who will offer its aid after you’ve made some story progress. When riding on Ursaluna, a yellow radar pulse will emanate from its nose. Follow the pulse, and when it’s got something, Ursaluna will dig it out of the ground. If you’re lucky, it’ll be Black Augurite.
Once you’ve got your Black Augurite, simply use it on Scyther from your bag to evolve it into Kleavor. There’s no level requirement on this, so go ahead and do it whenever the interest strikes you.
