You all probably saw this one coming. This indie gem offers a serene life-sim experience where you can grow crops, raise and befriend animals, explore for resources, and build relationships with fellow townsfolk, just like in Moonstone Island!

If you like creature-collecting games, then there’s no way you won’t like Slime Rancher. Slime Rancher combines adorable creatures with intergalactic exploration. You get to collect and raise colorful slimes, each with its own unique properties, on an alien planet full of hidden secrets and adorable creatures!

If collecting weird little creatures is your name, then Ooblets is your game! Ooblets is a delightful mix of farming, creature collection, and even funky little dance battles. You get to grow your very own creatures called Ooblets and interact with other fellow Ooblet-enthusiasts.

Pokémon

Pokémon is the OG creature-collecting RPG. Literally, any of the Pokémon games could be considered similar to Moonstone Island in nearly every way; both franchises involve collecting weird little creatures, befriending said weird little creatures, using captured ones to battle, exploring the world around you with your weird little creatures by your side; the list could go on forever. In fact, I’d even go as far as to say the Pokémon games are some of the most similar games like Moonstone Island.

Digimon

Digimon is sort of like Pokémon’s forgotten cousin. It shares many uncanny similarities with Pokémon, and, subsequently, with Moonstone Island as well! In the Digimon game series, players are able to enter a digital world and collect strange creatures to engage in turn-based battles with (sound familiar?).

Terraria

Okay, this one may not immediately come to mind when you think of games like Moonstone Island, but stay with me here. While Terraria and Moonstone Island have their own distinct themes and gameplay elements, their shared emphasis on exploration, crafting, creature interaction, and world-building makes them appealing to fans of either franchise! Also, they have a very similar visual design.

Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds

Unlike many of the previous entries on this list, Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds doesn’t share very many visual similarities with Moonstone Island. That doesn’t mean that it isn’t similar to it in other ways, however! Similar to Moonstone Island, Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds’s gameplay focuses on creature collection, fantasy world-building, crafting and customization, in-depth exploration, and strategic combat mechanics.

Garden Paws

Moonstone Island similarities aside, this game is just worth playing regardless! Garden Paws lets you run your own farm, take care of adorable animals, and build relationships with the island’s similarly adorable inhabitants.

Graveyard Keeper

With a name like “Graveyard Keeper”, you wouldn’t think that it’d have anything in common with a game like Moonstone Island, but you’d be wrong! While Graveyard Keeper and Moonstone Island may not share much in the way of central themes or gameplay mechanics, they do share plenty in resource management, crafting, character interaction, world exploration, and unique art styles.

TemTem

While TemTem’s visual design isn’t the greatest match, it’s arguably one of the best games like Moonstone Island on this list. TemTem allows players to embark on grand adventures in a world filled with creatures known as TemTem. These creatures can be captured, trained, and battled against each other with other players! If you think that sounds familiar, then you’re right! TemTem was actually inspired by the Pokémon series. Whether you’re a fan of Moonstone Island or Pokémon, TemTem is a fantastic choice for your next gaming experience!
