How to Play Pseudoregalia – All Platforms, Tips, and Tricks

What kind of a game is Pseudoregalia anyway?

Playing Pseudoregalia can be quite an interesting and unique experience for you if you’re unfamiliar with other games from the popular adventure game sub-genre called Metroidvania. Pseudoregalia, like other games from that category, is taking you into the world of nonlinear exploration and progress. You are simply put in an open-world environment and can explore it in any way you want.

What is Pseudoregalia?

Pseudoregalia is a Single-player experience that puts you in a dreamland castle that you need to explore. The protagonist, Sybil has a variety of abilities at her disposal to run around, climb, and jump on certain objects and obstacles. I can say that your experience in Pseudoregalia will look like that of a parkour enthusiast. Moving around in a sleek manner, making huge jumps, wall-running, dashing, and sliding along walls are just some of the things in your arsenal.

You will unlock new moves, as you progress through the game, discover its secrets, and fight enemies, that will allow you to reach previously unavailable parts of the distorted castle.

Where Can You Play Pseudoregalia?

Pseudoregalia can currently be played only on PC. It is an indie experience with retro 3D graphics that made me think of this game as a crossover between Assassin’s Creed and Super Mario 3D. It has a price point of only 6$ and a couple of hours of playtime (if you’re good and want to finish ASAP) or a bit more if you’re an enthusiast who likes to take things slow.

Tips and Tricks for Pseudoregalia

There will be plenty of moves you will learn in Pseudoregalia that will help you in both reaching new parts of the castle and fighting enemies that cross your way. One of the essential moves is the Dream Breaker which lets you dance around your foes by pressing attack while moving. As you hit the enemies you will be building up the magical power that you can then release at them by pressing the F key.

Also, you should know that the more power you have the stronger your attacks become. For example, on power level 2 your attack range increases while on power level 3 your damage is doubled. However, you can also spend your power on healing yourself, and in that case, these bonuses will reset.

Even though this game is focused on you utilizing Sybil’s skills to jump around and find new parts of the castle, the game will often have mystery Portal moments where you need to stop for a second and think about what your next step is going to be. Don’t worry, you won’t be placed in front of a series of impossible tasks, but you will need to think things through more than a few times if you want to have a successful run.
